YOU SHOULD'VE WON ALBUM OF THE YEAR. This album is iconic and avant-garde sophistication. For those who don’t know, Igbo Landing is the location of a mass suicide of Igbo slaves that occurred in 1803 on St. Simons Island, Georgia. As the story goes, a group of Igbo slaves revolted and took control of their slave ship, grounded it on an island, and rather than submit to slavery, proceeded to march into the water while singing in Igbo, drowning themselves in turn. They all chose death over slavery. It was an act of mass resistance against the horrors of slavery and became a legend, particularly amongst the Gullah people living near the site of Igbo Landing. In the video, Beyoncé marches into the water followed by a group of black women all in white with black fabric in the shape of a cross across the front of their bodies. They march progressively deeper into the water before pausing and raising all of their hands toward the sunset, seeking liberation through death.

Maz Amir Beyoncé didn't even write her album, she's just an image seller, she's not a true artist. She isn't even close of this. Who deserves the credits are the producers, the writers, and everyone else that worked on this album, not her. Her album, and I don't deny, was fantastic. But it's because she had a good crew. Her album was good, very good. But she as an artist isn't even close of what you say. Isn't even close of other big ones today.

This album is a cultural event and will always be viewed as such. This album impacted so many lives, especially black lives that an academy snubbing it doesn't even matter to me. What's important is the message of the album, and that message got to the intended targets.

Idk if anyone noticed but when Beyonce n the girls walk towards the water it kinda makes a reference to when slavery occured. Specifically the people of the igbo tribe(which I'm from btw) which overthrew a ship that they were on from the slave trade. Instead of giving in to slavery. They drowned themselves into the water singing in Igbo ( the water spirit brought us, the water spirit will take us home) Edit: I’m proud to be black

I am not hating on Adele, nor her album 25. I am hurting by the fact that Lemonade didn't win the Album of the Year. This album is beyond your normal romance and heartbreak album. This cries justice to the social and political imbalance. This cries amends to relationships that are broken. When the winner of the Album of the Year says she doesn't deserve it, isn't that representative of a faulty voting system? Lemonade is THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

@Gregory Love No, actually you are demeaning West Africa, by implying that if you identify with the igbo people, instead of Egypt you are demeaning yourself. Black people mostly came from West Africa, through the Transatlantic trade. The reason East and "middle" Africa did not get colonized until much later was do to the europeans not wanting to go deep into the plane as they didnt know the true natures. Some Egyptians might have been slave trade as well, but most are from West Africa, and that is a-oh-kay.

1:08 to me, personally, one of the most beautiful 10 seconds out of anything I have seen in my 19 years of life. The romantic impact of "...but you are the love of my life" contrasting with the artist abandoned by herself in a building made to cultivate companionship (through enjoying sports with loved ones), looking vulnerable as she lies on a foetus position... Beautiful! Look at 1:10, the stadium lights at the top of the camera frame all glimmer in perfect, symmetrical sequence as the camera pulls back! And to add to this orgasm of creativity, that juicy bass comes in with the most heavenly synth-wave note scale I've heard. I showed this to my one-year old and before Beyonce even started singing she was already shaking her hips to rhythm, smiling! Art, my motherfuckas, art! Lindissimo!

Why r people saying that she didn't win the award bc of the fact that her album is more of the stories behind songs?! That's why it should have won! It's new and different and it's by the queen!
@Headstrong91288 жыл бұрын
I'm not really a Beyoncé fan, but I really liked Lemonade and it's actually the first Beyoncé album I like from track 1 to 12. To me it feels more about the visuals than the music with Lemonade (music is great, but the visuals this era are among the BEST). It feels like she wanted to tell a story, and from that concept came the idea of the visuals and then the music (and her last album was the opposite with the music first and then the visuals). In the end, she won so many awards for the Lemonade film and got critical acclaim.

Once upon a time there was a trio known as Labelle. They spoke to the people's of the African diaspora. They never received any credit nor Grammy awards or mass recognition for their efforts! What they do have is a musical legacy that has inspired generations of musicians and artists around the world. Look them up. They've been woke for over 50 years. Why am I bringing this up on a Beyonce video? Here's why. I believe Beyonce knew from the inception of these videos and songs , that she was going to piss of and SCARE the white supremacist power structure that permeates everything in America. For me personally this music and these videos are her best work so far. I may be biased because I'm a 52 year old African descended man. I've seen some things. What I am mostly is greatful to see that we have an artist in Beyonce who is continuing to fight for and bring awareness to our struggle for equality in America and around the world. As with Labelle Nona Hendryx Lauren Hill. Nina Simone and the list goes on. They will try and silence her now , they will try and deny her any award no matter how much she deserves it. The good thing is this. We are all woke and awakening across the generations.When she was singing songs about being bootylicious they put that in the dictionary. Now she's taking a stance and saying stop killing us . Now she's being vilified and demonized. This is intentional and it's been done before to other artists on the low. To Beyonce fans look up naras the people who nominate the artist for the Grammy awards I think you'll begin to see the light! Pun intended. Continue to support Beyonce and don't worry about awards. They don't mean anything in the long run. What matters is the message in the music. Beyonce deserves our love and support for what she's doing. There are many people who remain silent and go along to get along. Stay Blessed! One 💘

This is what's so frustrating about the people in today's society. When she released beyonce, it was literally a pop album with a lot of sultriness to it and people kept saying she was too provocative and that she was too pop. She releases lemonade which is literally the opposite of her beyonce album from 2013, and people are like none of the songs are even that nice, none of them are hits. Like bitch you're just trying to look for a reason to hate because LITERALLY no one gives a fuck about your opinions in real life

Ten times out of nine, I know you're lying But nine times outta ten, I know you're trying So I'm trying to be fair And you're trying to be there and to care And you're caught up in your permanent emotions All the loving I've been giving goes unnoticed It's just floating in the air, lookie there Are you aware you're my lifeline, are you tryna kill me If I wasn't me, would you still feel me? Like on my worst day? Or am I not thirsty, enough? I don't care about the lights or the beams Spend my life in the dark for the sake of you and me Only way to go is up, skin thick, too tough Cause you, you, you, you and me could move a mountain You, you, you, you and me could calm a war down You, you, you, you and me could make it rain now You, you, you, you and me could stop this love drought Nine times out of ten, I'm in my feelings But ten times out of nine, I'm only human Tell me, what did I do wrong? Feel like that question has been posed I'm movin' on I'll always be committed, I been focused I always paid attention, been devoted Tell me, what did I do wrong? Oh, already asked that, my bad But you my lifeline, think you tryna kill me? If I wasn't Bey, would you still feel me? Like on my worst day? Or am I not thirsty, enough? I don't care about the lights or the beams Spend my life in the dark for the sake of you and me Only way to go is up, them old bitches so wack I'm so tough, wassup? Cause you, you, you, you and me could move a mountain You, you, you, you and me could calm a war down You, you, you, you and me could make it rain now You, you, you, you and me would stop this love drought You and me would stop this love drought

Bruna st Oh yes certainly not because she's currently the best vocalist in mainstream music, even everyone's favorite Adele has said she can't reach her notes, do her runs or riffs, not to mention Beyoncé operatic head voice, amazing vibrato, nearly perfect technique, amazing resonance, and she also has a messa di voce, something only Whitney had in mainstream singing.
