My guest as to the main artist they were shopping it to would be Mary J. Blige. She had just come off dropping her album "The Breakthrough" the year prior which had the biggest first week sales for a female R and B artist in history. And the song goes right along with the theme of her music; "Not Gon Cry", "Just Fine", "Take Me As I Am".

@@Literally_me93 Pon de replay came out in 2005, her first big single. Then unfaithful and SOS came out in 2006. All three charted at no.2. Despite Deja Vu Rihanna’s songs charted higher than the other songs on Beyonce’s album. Speaking from my own experience, they both had albums released in 2006, radio constantly played Rihannas album more.

That song has a good beat and the notes sound good. However, I’ve never really liked the concept of it. The guy is living in the woman’s house. She buys him a car, necklace, etc. Then she says “I could have another you in a minute “… If he cheated on her, had the woman in the car that she bought him, and he’s no good, why would she want another one like him? I always thought Beyoncé wrote that song and I just figured she wrote it when she was young and inexperienced in life. Now that I know who really wrote it, it still makes me wonder… 🤔🤨
