I remember she was on tour at this time and she flew back to the US to do this in-between two UK tours. I was at the show the next day so didn't expect her to perform at BET! The water stage was a part of the formation tour, you should check out clips from the tour of you liked this

This is one of Beyonce’s best performances, but You have got to see Kendrick’s performances Please do a kendrick series...his Stephen colbert performance, SNLJimmy Fallon, and Grammys with imagine dragons and his BET performance of 'Alright. And his videos are genius.. lListen to the whole album… Good Kid Madd City is an experience.. I believe he won the Pulitzer for his writing! You must check it out!

You should watch Kendrick perform with Imagine Dragons ('Radioactive'). You'll be blown away. One of the best live performances I've ever seen, and I'm not even an official fan of either artists (Kendrick or ID, though I have watched Kendrick's stuff a fair bit). ETA: I very much prefer him as a live performer (including his voice) over his studio work.
