E!News obtained court doc where Bey was named as the defendant in a civil suit in New York where a Kentucky filmmaker named Matthew Fulks is saying that the Lemonade concept was flat out copied from his short film, PALINOIA that he made back in 2014.
Recently a lot of other artists like Pharrell, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber have all faced lawsuits (or possible lawsuits) by other artists who claim they’ve copied their work but usually there isn’t a personal connection between the two artists, just a similar sound in their music. This time, however, Fulks had been in contact with an SVP of video and content production at Beyonce’s label, Columbia…and this SVP also worked on Bey’s Formation album too.
AND apparently he has proof that his film was sent TO Beyonce herself back in 2015 before she started working on Lemonade.
Taking a look more closely at the two films, Fulks believes that the similarities are uncanny like the the garage shots, the graffiti styles on the sets, the red and black scenes that have heavy shadows, the close up shots AND even the title card screens. He also states that the mood of Lemondae is similar also calling them both "heavy, dark, and angst-laden.”

Well Fulk is requesting that he get the records of all the money Beyonce has made off of this film, which also includes her profits from the album itself and he doesn’t want a judge to decide the verdict, he is requesting a trial by jury.

It kinda doesn't surprise me as she has done this several times and has openly admitted to stealing choreography. In a clip a, while speaking to Frank Gatton Jr, she talked about maybe not being let in to see Chicago, as the the cast and crew knew that they would be there to steal the choreography. There's absolutely nothing wrong by being inspired by another persons work as it's a compliment, but you should always credit them at least. It's just out of respect. I'm a dance teacher myself and any video I put up, I always credit my inspirations and always put a little twists in their choreography instead of fully taking it for my own. I'm not the biggest fan of Beyoncé, but she has some fun choreography.

MissGigi I wholeheartedly agree with you. I met a young choreographer fresh out of college. I admonished her to film her dance moves and date stamp them and see about putting a patent on them so that in the future if anyone copies, steals or "samples" her stuff, she'll be able to prove it. I hate the word "sample" because it's just a way for some people like Beyonce to get away with stealing. Call it what it is.

That's true. But inspiration and copying are not the same. If there were 1 or 2 elements of her trailer that were similar to his video, I would say his case is weak. But there are about 5 or 6, which makes it hard to ignore. Then if he can prove they saw his video, his case strengthens. If his video is copyrighted and there is no written agreement that he permitted them to use elements of his video, he has a very strong case. Added to that is her history of copying, plagiarizing, sampling and stealing song lyrics.

Why can't Beyonce just do what Michael Jackson did? Michael drew a lot of inspiration from other artists and creators, but he would collaborate with the person that inspired him to make a new piece of art. Michael credited Jeffery Daniels for teaching him the moon-walk, and even hired the street dancers he learned how to pop-lock and glide from and put them in his videos as choreographers. Beyonce get's "inspiration" all the time but never mentions who from until they accuse her of stealing or sues her. Beyonce , her label and Jay Z( Beyonce's brain) are so greedy, that they don't want to share profits with the little man. More indie artists should call out these major artists for stealing. Beyonce is like Walmart and these unknown artists are like mom and pop shops, because they get ran over for the benefit for the bigger corporation( Beyonce). Her beehive is dumb they would drink cynaide for a woman that don't even know they exists. I don't blame Beyonce for this , I blame the media and corporate machine that pushes her like she's the greatest woman to ever walk earth. Beyonce is a dynamic performer and talented , but everything she's done has been done before. Prince already did the visual album with a storyline with Purple Rain, MJ was the first to do over-the-top stage shows with great choreography (since the 80's), David Bowie did the surprise album in the beginning of 2013 12 months before Beyonce, Tina Turner was the first to booty dance in heels with energy, Amerie's album (Touch 2005) style and sound was later copied by Beyonce on B-Day(2006), Hold up on Lemonade is a ripoff of the Yea Yea Yeas "Wait"(2003) the co-writer for Hold-up even admitted it. When everyone around me was praising Beyonce for Lemonade, I said " she stole the concept for this album", they said I was hating on her. Now that this lawsuit for Lemonade came out, now they've changed their tune. Beyonce has never been and never will be a innovator, she's a great imitator.

Another aspect I look at other than the 5 similarities of these 2 videos is that Matt Fulks is not the first person to go after her legally. That is something I find hard to ignore, and makes him more believable than her.
