I will never forget the shock I felt when Lemonade made me realize how sad this song was. Tbh I really didn’t like this album when it initially dropped. I was like, damn sis is drowning in sexuality, which isn’t inherently a bad thing, it just always felt like a lot for me. Especially when her talent had always done all the talking; why sell sex? Right? But she literally said it, “I just wanna be the girl you like.” I can’t even begin to imagine the heartbreak she felt. And she wrote her way through that. I think Partition, Haunted, and Drunk in love were enough to make me question why so sexual? Yknow? The only songs on the album I initially liked were XO, 7/11, and Blue. And those are nothing like the former 3 songs; that being said the album also felt a bit all over the place for me too. I literally didn’t understand the vibe it was supposed to give off.
