Oh my I can relate to so much of this!! I just started looking into this "Fresh Start" as I was sent info from ECMC today. Its stated it's a temporary program. It states the only info needed is a copy of last years IRS Form 1040 Line 11 to I guess repmt amts?? I was grateful for all this info in this Video. I been going around and around and taken twice by two different rehabilitation places promising to get rid of my loan or lowing the pmts for the life of the loan. Ten months to a year later..these companies were nowhere to be found! I was 21 at the time looking for a way to make a living and become a standup young adult. I got sucked into a non-profit school. (which has closed) breathing down my neck, promising all these false hopes to help open doors to making a decent living, after completing their one year program. "They would always be there for job leads" "I would be offered jobs way beyond min. wage" I believe at the time..my two loans totaled about $7k...Welp here I am..49 yrs old, w an increasing loan of $15k !!!! I never gave up on it unless times got very very tough. I took the break that was offered through Covid (who wouldn't in this situation). I guess my only choice is to look into this "Fresh Start" program. It makes me very wary with it being "temporary" ...anything "temporary" in this student loan word is very 'scary" since I been dooped and played like a clown. I thought about reaching out for legal help..but not sure if it even help..besides cost me more $ I do not have. Missouri College for Medical Jobs..a big fat joke! $15K to learn how to fill out a death certificate and book doctor appts.. A life joke they played on my 21 year old self.
