I think you have a valid point but also, it is important to express it in a more compassionate and open minded way. I do think that transition is likely the right solution for some people with very high level body dysmorphia (when therapy cannot assist them to accept their body) but I also agree that pushing the idea that people are "born in the wrong body" can be very dangerous as well. There was a BBC documentary of transition regret that demonstrated that. It's a complex and challenging issue and unfortunately it is being presented as very simple (right/wrong) by both sides of the political divide.

Rebecca, have you been listening to Fox talking points again? The reality is that very few people detransition. Even fewer detransition for the reason that it wasn't right for them. More than likely, they do so because of the tremendous pressure they are put under by family, friends, job prospects, or those who constantly throw hateful comments at them. Consider your role in this. Is it not obvious that you are excited about people detransitioning because it satisfies your need to discount the validity of trans folks? Are you really acting as a force for good here or are you rooting for people you don't understand to fail? Make a choice, be a nice person. Have a nice evening.

I hope that Michael/Michelle was able to keep his/her nuclear family intact. I’m glad that this documentary, clearly a few years or a decade old, is still available and being re-aired now. Though our society during those past years was certainly dealing with the issues of those days, I value the amicable and respectful language and reporting on this issue, and the generally kind and educational tone of this film. It’s a shame that public discourse on the subject has devolved into being far less civil. This is true of many important subjects of our time today. There are two choices a planetary society may make; choosing civilization, or barbarism. Mutual respect and kindness is a crucial bulwark in defending our wider civilization against barbarism.

Thank you to all those that participated in the documentary. The extent to which these men and women go to “become” male or female is great. I couldn’t imagine 🤯. To see some of the scarring that is left after these surgeries is crazy. I understand why the surgeries are wanted and needed but doesn’t all the scarring mess with their heads? I have a dear friend that transitioned from female to male just a few years ago. He has only had the top surgery and his scarring is so minimal in appearance in only 3 years and you really really have to look close to see it. I couldn’t imagine the bottom surgery. I know how it feels to give birth and how the “bottom” feels afterwards and these surgeries are way more extensive. Makes me hurt just thinking about it. God Bless and be safe 💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️

The scars do take years to fade, and are extensive. Yet I don’t have any female to male trans friends that haven’t been thrilled, even quite soon after surgery. Cosmetic Surgery doesn't make you a Man or Woman. It doesn't fix the problem. It does not fix anything. Its cosmetic. Most of the time people want to transition back to what they were born with. Do you know you can never have your own kids and you can never ever have an Orgasm. What would wan tto mutilate yourself? Its cosmetic surgery. You think you need it but your need healing... Spiritual healing ....not cosmetic surgery. You can mever have normal sex AGAIN..Not ever. Lets talk about all the complications from the surgery.....

We are finding out that the way to treat gender dysphoria is NOT with surgery or mutilation. These people need psychological support and love.

I can only speak from my perspective but before I transitioned to male I was legitimately suicidal. I once broke down in my mum's arms, telling her I wanted to die and she knew I meant it. I was out to my family at that point but wasn't in a position to start any kind of physical change. I could see ahead of me the future I needed to have and the person I had to become, and it was just out of reach. The day I was told I could start testosterone, was a very defining moment in my life, as suddenly the person I had to be was no longer out of reach. I knew that bit by bit I would become him. I still had mental health issues (separate from me being trans) I was working through but I was no longer suicidal. I wanted to live. I loved the changes from testosterone but I knew that still having breasts was a great deal of distress. The day I woke up after surgery, and for them to be gone, was a welcome home present to my own body. As I am writing this comment I have been on testosterone for over 10 years and my breasts removed 10 years ago in July. I can look at myself in the mirror and smile and know I am now the person I needed to be and that all of this was worth it. I imagine some people may say I'm still a woman who is mutilated and they can have that opinion, I don't have any way of changing that and quite frankly I wouldn't care to try. But if my comment can help someone in any way, then I'll take the stupid comments too.

@@Kasey.Walker thanks for sharing! Im glad you aren’t suicidal any more. I’m a gay male, but cis (we use that term still right?) I have trans friends…. My first full-time therapist was a trans man. I always had questions for him, but I felt it was really invasive. The only way I can “feel” what it’s like, is imagining I am in a woman’s body now……which would actually make me pretty miserable. Not because of anything against women. Is there a point where you stop using “trans” and just identify as a man, or is the trans and transitioning part, a part of your identity?

So with saying that I do wanna say I'm tired of the pronouns and having the LGBTQ+ shove their agenda in society's face and trying to groom young children. @monicadaniels7842 жыл бұрын
@@h.s.l6875 Well, good morning! I would like to speak to the misinformation you have stated here. First of all, yes, these groups are different in some important ways. They do have one thing in common, they are all groups who have been marginalized, belittled, and basically treated horribly by the majority. The reasoning for such abuse has always been based on either hateful stereotyping or lack of understanding or even the smallest desire to do so. Every member of the LGBT+ grouping needs one thing, a need to be genuine to themselves. I can think of nothing more cowardly than for some of that group to progress up the social ladder by stepping on others to do so. It is especially tragic if that effort is based on untruths. And so I get to your misinformation. You use the talking points of the group of people who would like nothing better than to see all LGBT+ gone from 'legitimate' society. Specifically you sound like you are saying that there is no such thing as a trans person below the age of 18. You make it sound like there are adults who get some perverse pleasure out of getting kids to be trans. This is totally ridiculous. I am trans and I know a ton of trans people. I no of zero of those people who would wish being trans on anyone, much less force them into it.. Do you think it is a picnic being trans? But what better way to vilify trans folks than by claiming we are abusing kids, 'grooming' them. The truth is, there are trans kids, kids who are absolutely miserable because they are forced into roles that don't suit them. Don't believe me, look at the figures on suicidal thoughts in this group. Now, kids are young, immature, and sometimes struggle with gender. The goal of treatment is to provide time for these kids to mature. These kids are given therapy, they are under doctors care. They are screened and the top priority is to give them time so that mistakes are not made. Part of that, only for some, is to be given puberty blockers to delay what to a truly trans child would be irreversible, horrifying changes to their bodies. Forcing them to go through the wrong puberty, that is truly child abuse. As a example, I have been lucky enough to afford thousands of needle sticks to my face because of such a puberty. That is just the beginning. No, the abusers here are those who soak up the right's talking points, buy into the lies about evil trans folks corrupting children and forcing laws that cause irreparable harm to trans kids. I have a friend in Texas who knows a young girl who just came out of a coma from a suicide attempt. Why did this happen? Because the governor of that state, cynically trying to get votes, pushes these anti trans laws that threatened her treatment and threatened to investigate her loving, supportive parents as child abusers. Fact, there are kids who truly are trans, even if you don't approve. As for procreation, this too is discussed in therapy. Besides being their choice, not everyone wants to or can have children. So, please, think about this issue, it is complex. It is not without much caution, being taken, expertise, and hard choices. Your blanket condemnation is a sign that you have not or care not to really think about the facts of the issue. Sympathy is feeling bad for someone else. Empathy is having such feelings by trying to understand where they are coming from. Meanness is not caring about the facts with intent to cause harm. Have a nice day, really!
