Heirloom Red Delicious are actually quite wonderful. We have a many decade old tree in our yard, and the apples have the yellow stripes of the original cultivar. It was their popularity that led to their demise. As the distributors tried to ship them farther and farther, they demanded changes that sacrificed taste, sweetness, and crispness for uniform red skin that was much thicker so that the apples would survive trucking them long distance. So my rant? Fuck the people that sacrifice all that is good (and local) in this world for their commercial greed.

Luckily, there are a few people, like you, that can still not take things too seriously and make me laugh. I don't know what I'll do once you retire. There are almost no funny (humourous) people out there now and I'm beginning to get the impression that there aren't too many people out there who even want to laugh anymore...everything has become too serious and extreme. Keep up the good work...let's get people laughing again!!!! People need to chill a little and then, maybe, we can find a few bread crumbs to find our way home again. What are you planning to do during your retirement (if it's not too personal)?

25:00 Thinking that both sides are even is what got us here in the first place. That is what empowered the Republican Party to put people like M-T-G, Lauren Boebert and Ted Cruz in powerful positions. They figured that you would claim there were equally nutty people on the other side. So they could go as crazy as they wanted with no repercussions because, "both sides do it," or "both sides are equal." I know that you are trying to be non-partisan, but even in a non-partisan situation, one side using facts and the other side claiming the exact opposite of facts is not the same thing.

Lewis, I'm 70 years old and watched every single super bowl for many years. I finally got so I watched football games muted so I only watched and didn't have to hear the inane chatter. Then the choreographed celebrations got so sickening I started just watching the highlights after the games. A man makes a tackle and gets up and does a dance and nonsense hand signals or whatever it is. He is making millions of dollars a year and does a dance because he made a tackle, even if his team is losing? There is no sportsmanship any more. It was bad form to celebrate in the middle of a game. NO such thing as being a gracious winner or loser any more. Don't celebrate until your team wins and then celebrate in the locker room, together. All the soap opera and drama now is just too much. They have ruined football for me. And don't get me going on the weather forecasts. I live in Maine and we have some pretty rough days, but these forecasters make it sound like the apocalypse. I've lived through blizzards and ice storms and all kinds of bad weather. You just prepare for it and enjoy it. Now they say something like, "Tomorrow will begin with a wintry mix followed by flying monkeys and the plague, more at 11." Finally, I don't let the news get me down, (time and age are doing that fine on their own). I was born at the end of the Korean War and lived through the Viet Nam war. I've lived through the presidencies of Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes and that NY real estate con artist. I've seen enough lying politicians on both sides of the aisle, as they say to know that they are in it for themselves and a few of the decent ones will actually do something for the people once in a while and the rest will do something to the people too often. Take a deep breath and relax. Think back on the history of our country. When were things ever really good? McCarthyism? Wars? Depressions, Slavery, Jim Crow, Disco? We live our lives and enjoy the passing of time despite all this extraneous crap. BE well.

Imo....the biggest thing that irritates me is i open a large package of face cream, or cereal, or potato chips, etc. I open the package and there is a jar of face cream, and it is the size of a drinking straw, but a little thicker and shorter. The potato chip bag, when opened bursts from a blast of air, filling out the bag, and the bottom of the bag is filled with crumbs! Ugh! Cereal?...now this is a real mess. The box is huge! When opened, there is a tiny bag. Inside this giant box, the bag is filled with air, with one bowl of cereal in it. Help. Help .... 😢

OG Red Delicious wasn't solid red, the new apple has almost none of the flavor of it's 'forebear', but it sure looks great in a store, while the old ones looked nice and stripey/splotchy, and barely had any knob on the bottom. Golden Delicious is a fantastic apple, but it's cross with Granny Smith, the impeccable Matsu apple, is easily one of the best main stream apples available. Try one picked late enough to have some red blush on it, the mix of sweet and tart is just out of this world, and the apples are inexplicably big. My Opa loved Golden Delicious, but I prefer the more tart Matsu if I have a choice, but both of us actually like Russet apples, the apple that thinks it's a pear!

There is only one way to fight it we all need to not participate. In video games we say vote with your wallet if it's good buy it if not don't. I believe the same can be applied to politics. If all of us as Americans don't play along and certainly don't reward these thoughts. If we all say no to this the only option will be to run on facts to win elections.
