Beyond Salsa Piano. Vol. 9 is the last of four books on Iván "Melón" Lewis, the phenomenal timba pianist of Issac Delgado's late-1990s group that also included bassist Alain Pérez, the subject of Beyond Salsa Bass, Volumes 6-9.
Volume 9 is also the first in a new longer format, almost twice as long as Vol. 8 and containing a much larger selection of examples, including three extensive passages from Melón's cuerpo accompaniments.
