There's is a huge difference between Shadow and regular Empoleon. Video was very good but I highly recommend trying the shadow version. It gets 2hkos by pretty much the same stuff but it picks up plenty of wins: Clods, Cress, Feraligatr, Pelipper, Stunfisk, Swampert in the 1s. Annis, Cress, Mandi, Mantine, Shadow Poli, Shadow Alash, Shadow Sampert, Trev, Venusaur, Vigoroth in the 0's and SGligar, Goodra, Mandi, Regi Sableye, Trev, Umbreon and Venusaur in the 2s. It feels A LOT stronger and it can complement many teams with success. Regular Empoleon gameplay feels just terrible. Nonetheless thanks for the content Dan really appreciate your insights.

Interested/encouraged your Cresselia is 11/15/13 which according to PVPpoke is 2537/3375 rank. Is that intentional high attack for certain matchups or do you not care that much? I have a good ranked GL Cresselia but nothing special for UL (best is ranked around 1500), wondering if I should spend the time and stardust to trade for a better one or if my average IVs Cress will do ok for ultra league. I have a feeling most of these move changes are really going to effect ultra premier, that's the one I'm eyeing up. I think Gallade and Empoleon could make a really strong core in that cup and I think things like gator, hippo, goodra could all also do well

Hey kids! Did you know, not every Pokemon with a new move needs to be an instant meta? I think Empoleon is in a good place right now, it doesn't need to be broken.

If anything, I think it's going to be kinda similar to pre Rock Slide Vigoroth, where it struggles to make a name for itself in Open GL but will be a savage in limited formats. I think if you give Empoleon even more buffs it'd make it unbearable in any cup it's legal lol. Also, Empoleon's stat product is more suited for Ultra League, and it will stand out a LOT more than in GL. I think it'd be pretty polarizing there as well if it got more buffs, especially if they keep bringing back Premier.

This move isn't gonna help Empoleon in any Open League. There is nothing they could do to help the Lanturn matchup and loses in the neutral a lot. Steel being a bad offensive typing holds it back. Steel wing skarmory have people overlooking that it's just an average fast move. Skarmory makes it work for it's bulk. Having said all of that, thus thing is ginna be a menace un Spring Cup next week. Steel for all the fairies, way less bulk in the meta and Drill peck to hit grass types. Be prepared

I remember that Empolion was having a ton of problems with grass apart from not having a very good fast move… water fall introduced to him am Gayrados am after drill peck came in man how happy was everyone about that last one! Lol just bc it give him a chance to retaliate agains grass am fighting… Machamp was the only fighting used but what ever! Lol Some mons can catch a break!

You're focusing too much on nit-picking PvPoke's assessment of it, and instead should be playing it more with an actual good team. You did the same thing with Steelix two seasons ago. BTW Empoleon absolutely craps on steel types, not sure why you think it's bad against steels that it would need a counter user. Shadow Emp, Cress, Shadow Gligar.

For me season beginning started as a complete Desaster…straight losses and hardwalls, no fun games only pure meta picks and outplayed 🤦🏻‍♂️

You’re probably getting matched against players that usually are at a higher skill level. Happens every start of the season

Same here mate. I had to swap to just 3 super bulky guys to try and recover from tough situations. Wigglytuff whiscash and charjabug did me good yesterday
