@@yuyu246 Too be honest. There's a time and a place, and Floch's words were pretty harsh. If you're attached to our main cast, someone basically roasting (truth bombing) all of them for their decision will almost certainly get some ire. However, I can understand Floch's bitterness. He was the only person on that rooftop that was approaching the situation rationally and without a personal emotional attachment to either Erwin or Armin, and yet, he was alone in his conviction and Levi decided to act on emotion (yes, his decision was based on emotion) and let Erwin rest. I can imagine Floch being incredibly frustrated about how things turned out.

@@dynamicworlds1 There's also the argument of morality; that Erwin said directly to Levi that he cared so much about finding out the truth that he, at least momentarily, was willing to sacrifice humanity's survival in favor of personally learning the truth, meanwhile Armin nearly did give up on his dream without being prompted by someone else in order to assure victory for his comrades. But whether or not Erwin still would have held onto that more selfish motive after the whole charging the Beast Titan part, and especially after actually getting ahold of the truth, is rather up in the air, and at this point we don't really have any way of knowing for certain how he would have acted if he had survived.

@@jacintacapelety9600 yeah, at the very least, Erwin's future motivations, drive, and therefor actions would have been in far more doubt, whereas Armin's would remain far more predictable and consistent to his past actions. Armin was by far the safer call which, when you're handing out that much power, you really want to be double sure of the motivations of who you're entrusting it to. Call that morality or pragmatism, the result is the same. Being based on emotional thinking and being irrational aren't always diametrically opposed. Emotional and social intelligence are actual things. I think Levi made the best call with the information he had available at the time, even if that was focused more on the moral angle of who to trust the power to for the same of humanity, or being focused on Erwin's mental state and how he was spent and the only thing to drive him left would have been his guilt, or something else. For as cold and calculating as he often acts, Levi has _never_ forgotten that the soldiers around him are actual _people_ and not just pieces on a board with a collection of stats that could measure how well they can perform orders or overestimated his ability to see the big picture. "I gave Armin the injection because I realized I'd just emotionally murdered Erwin to try and kill the Beast Titan, which I let get away." isn't exactly a great motivational declaration, though. He understands that and that you simply make judgement calls based on incomplete information as best you can and without being sure which is the best sometimes. Any assessment with absolute certainty which would have turned out better without being able to see both potential timelines is naive. That's what so many miss. You can't be sure in a situation like that, so you consider it from multiple angles and then just make a call and accept the good and bad that comes of it.

I don’t care what anyone says, Floch is a great character. He had come to terms with his death. He charged right alongside all those who died and he alone is the survivor. He was a new recruit who volunteered to die and lived then the all star team get what they want when it’s clearly not rational. When he sees Armin he sees someone who’s life was placed on a pedestal because he’s a main character while he and everyone of those nameless soldiers were tossed aside.

One thing I think Isayama does really well is the character of Floch. I think more than anyone else he represents how someone not affiliated with the main characters would feel. The decision to save Armin may be good later, or it might blow up in their faces. But if the enemies across the sea are as barbaric as they seem, they need a Devil to lead them to victory. And that's what Erwin represented. He could sacrifice hundreds of people in order to complete the mission. And Floch doesn't see that same energy in Armin. Floch needs his Devil. And I really love that he's willing to call out the main characters, because not a lot of people or even shows do that. On another note, seeing Frieda actively try to help Grisha(judging from her expression), before being completely taken over and shut down by the first King's will was really sad. She genuinely seemed like a good person who wanted to help humanity.

SPOILERS: Because of Floch's anger here, I'll admit I was surprised to see him help the Yaegerists later. You'd think he would've bottled up that anger at saving Armin over Erwin, but instead, he became one of the top leaders of the Yaegerists. Also, I will say Erwin living instead is no guarantee that everything will be happy go lucky. He potentially could've negotiated (and fought) for more alliances but unless he can change Eren's mind on getting revenge, not much would change in a timeline where he lives.

What if his fickle self just used Erwin's death charge as a reason to say "Erwin won't be able to make peace with Marley! He'll just get us all killed! Only Eren can save Eldia"? Floch is wrong when he says supposedly having Erwin around would've made things better for the island.

And Levi choosing Armin was an emotional decision, not a logical one. I agree. Bringing Armin back was a mistake, an emotional mistake by Levi, and many people don't understand that this was meant by the author to be a mistake, it's not a poetic correct choice, it was the wrong rational choice, it was just another person (Levi) showing he still a human with flaws even after acting like a killing machine and sacrificing hundreds of his comrades. Erwin did not care if taking the crown with the military was right or wrong, he just wanted to live and see the basement, showing us that he also prioritized his own ambitions. Mikasa is constantly prioritizing Eren over humanity and one of the major plots of the show (spoiler ahead for who did not finish the show) is Eren doing the rumbling because he wants to, he thinks this is the only way to achieve his "freedom", he was just angry over the world who "stole his freedom". The show is all about how trash we can be, how egotistic we are deep in our hearts. At least that's how i see because in the last chapters of the manga there are more points to reinforce this idea.

Erwin also cared about humanity more than his friends, he definitely wouldn't be agree with the rumbling. We probably wouldn't be able to see the rumbling as Erwin might be able to stop Eren. I mean genocide isn't right at all but I still love Eren's bold movements on the 4th season, which we wouldn't seen if Erwin didn't die. Isayama made the right decision to kill Erwin

It's objective that the decision was made based on emotion. We all get weepy and nod when Levi says he doesn't want Erwin to suffer anymore and when Eren wants his best friend brought back, but get pissed off when Floch points out that the organized military he joined turns out to be run by a group of friends who sees results as secondary to their camaraderie. When the entire survey corps consists of 9 persons and 8 of them have been fighting alongside for quite a while, it's simply inevitable that it basically is just a group of friends. And since they are friends, it's only natural to get emotional and make decisions based on that. This is the kind of thing you just have to deal with as long as this world is still run by human beings. There's no avoiding that. Floch is not wrong here. But tbh, his speech about Erwin being a devil definitely helped Levi make the decision to leave Erwin die in peace, because as a friend Levi doesn't want Erwin to be that devil. It is very simple. Anyone with a decent understanding of human being will know that. Floch gets a point, but he doesn't understand humanity well enough to find the right word to say at the time and he himself is also to be blamed for Levi's decision.

Yes, each episode has a meaning and connection to what to come. In this one Eren is depressed because the convection of what he has to do, to have freedom for his homeland and friends. His torn up that, that the solution "if we go over there and *kill* all our enemies, will we finally be free? It wasn't a question but a statement. It tragic.

The kiss was a car crash to Eren, the impact, and crash of those memories were him feeling it, the raw shock of it, and after the crash it settling to the reality, because in a car crash you're in shock and after the accident your body start to feel the trauma physically, emotionally and just the after math. Eren getting to the Ocean was reality setting in to what has to happen next.

This is where Eren and Armin diverge - Armin sees adventure, hope when seeing the sea- wanted to see the sea for the sake of just experiencing it. Eren, on the other hand, thought that seeing the ocean would mean freedom. But instead, it's just an expanse of space separating them from their true enemies. I feel bad for Eren here. But I think it means something that the very last image of the end credit- of S3 really- is not Eren but instead Armin with his seashell. That said, I do like it that Armin is represented in the pieces Shingekinokyojin, ThanksAT and this one t-KT that are all over S3P2. These variants may be my favorite of Sawano's creations.

A truly emotionless, but logical decision would be to let Erwin continue to live and suffer since he's the soldier with more experience as well as the one who has provided the most for humanity. While Armin's win over the colossal is impressive, it pales in comparison to everything Erwin has done. Levi acted with emotion by letting Erwin finally be at peace, no longer forcing him to commit terrible sins for humanity's benefit.

No. Floch was a good written character but his ideology was retarded. If erwin would have been here he would have sacrificed historia, but eren didn't want any of his friends to be sacrificed. And eren was doing everything not to protect eldia but just his friends and to go for his childish sense of freedom. War will never end. Paradisians themselves will fight amongst each other and war over resources. Simple fact is that eren succeeded by giving his friends long lives He never cared about eldia, he used floch as a pawn. That's it. Eren talking about paradis future is a cover up for the inner desire to see outside world being wiped out. But he saw that he would never complete rumbling and knew that mikasas choice would somehow eradicated titans and therefore he kept moving forward. Mikasas choice represented freedom to not only ymir but also to eren. Not to just kill him but to wear the scarf and tell him that she will always remember him. This made eren loath less and feel comforted that someone important exists in his life who would always be there by his side. Thus eren died with a faint a smile.

Floch really reminds me of Season 1 Jean, specifically before, during, and in the aftermath of the Battle of Trost. The Battle of Shiganshina for Floch was more or less what Jean experienced back in Trost, but the biggest difference is that Floch never had someone like Marco to support him. The closest person to that would probably be Marlo, but the relationship they had was brief and it didn't have the same connection that Jean and Marco had (which was built after years of training together). For Jean, Marco's death was what drove him to be a more selfless person and join the Scouts, and he also had people he could count on. Jean also took Marco's words to heart, becoming an effective squad leader. For Floch, being the only other survivor of the suicide charge besides Erwin made him believe that it was his mission to save him (how else would one explain such a miracle?). Though at first his decision to give him the injection was selfish and vengeful, he recognized that despite his resentment saving Erwin was still the logical choice. Just when he thinks he's accomplished something that would make his survival worth it, he's only overruled because Levi let his emotions get to him. In the end, the only ones who are left are people Floch doesn't know and now has no trust in. As others have mentioned, Floch's perspective is one that anyone would have if they weren't friends with the main characters. I honestly feel bad for the guy. If there's any character besides Jean who needed to hear Marco's words of encouragement, it's Floch.
