CJ: Nu metal is miles better then wimpy electronic pop music, which blows even harder. Like someone else said, LP is a perfect example of failed re-invention. They were much better during their nu-metal days then they are now with One More Light.
@JulioHernandez-vi9to7 жыл бұрын
CJ both there nu metal albums sold more than one more light will ever sell,its a good album for what its for but its terrible no presence of hahn at all,it has nothing going for them that'll survive when a new pop artist comes up with catchier pop songs/albums its market is already dominated that's why its failing its well written i own it but there best atleast the nu metal gave us some angry muwic with great lyrics with meaning,this album is just to fake it doesn't feel like a lp album now i agree its there music they do as they please but going from the heavy hunting party the one more light was a bad choice

Panic! didnt sell out. They evolved their sound and continue to evolve their sound in new directions with each album depending on which direction Brendon wants to go creatively For example, the 50's influenced music theyre doing right now is in no way cliche nor was the 80's pop influenced TWTLTRTD. Its always been unique and original ideas. Theyve just drifted from the kind of emo sound of Fever. Doesnt make them sell outs just because they evolve and more people happen to listen
@googoogaga71757 жыл бұрын
Peyton Stewart yeah that's true. I still like the new music. doab seemed like he was trying to go really pop, but it wasn't super sudden or anything. And dont get me wrong, I still love all of these bands

Jon, if you haven't checked them out, I'd suggest checking out the band "Biffy Clyro". It's actually pretty phenomenal how all-over-the-place Biffy has been in their career. Kind of went from grungy vibes to experimental rock to hardcore stuff, and kind of settled in an electronica/arena rock type of sound. Love the band's versatility! Still consider Vertigo of Bliss and Opposites to be my personal favorites.
@joebaggins88507 жыл бұрын

@bloo_1107 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say LP changed their sound COMPLETELY (except for OML). Before that, I thought it was very much of an evolution. Even OML is an evolution of their sound, if you remove The Hunting Party from the equation. THP was called a prequel to Hybrid Theory, so really their sound changes from heavy rock (THP) to nu metal (Hybrid Theory + Meteora), to more generic and pop rock (MTM), to electronic (ATS), to then electronic rock (Living Things) to then pop (OML). Its easy for everyone to roast OML because of its timing. If it didn't release right after LPs heaviest album ever (and imo their best) and maybe after ATS or Living Things then it wouldn't have been so roasted imo (tbh, the album has grown on me a lot, especially after Chester's death)

Chester said making every Linkin Park album felt like being in a new band. I can see there being quite an appeal in that. It is quite a dramatic shift, most noticeable when you open up Apple Music's "essentials" playlist and put it on shuffle. When I was getting to know them fully, it was quite a jarring experience. I remember Papercut and Heavy playing back to back, and I was like, "what the...??"

Sarthak Singh It's only 'Heavy' in the production. Mainly because of those drums. Which make me want to punch the producer in the face.

bepempire this is about how they changed. And they’ve always been rap
@leftistpoetic5 жыл бұрын
Rap isn't a sound though, there's so many subgenres in rap and they clearly changed their sound. I would argue that they eventually just became pop with some rapping occasionally.

I’m surprised that Queens Of The Stone Age aren’t on here. Listening to their debut self titled album and their most recent album, “Villains”, shows how insanely far they’ve adapted since 1998. Not that they’re bad now, they’re still freaking fantastic.

As much as I love Linkin Park (first modern rock band I got into), I'm not really feeling the new direction. I prefer when they stick to heavier sounds, even on more electronic songs.

eugenemetayhas I was feeling the new album at all just by listening to the initial songs they released. It's a much better album when listened beginning to end although Good Goodbye really seems out of place. But I really had a better appreciation for it after a couple of listens with my headphones.
OK Computer to Kid A is still the most radical album to album change there is.

I'm looking forward to listen to RHCP, their evolution looks interesting. Oh and Radiohead are total beasts. What a smooth evolution really. Another band who changed abruptly with amazing results is Blur. These guys went from shoegaze/madchester to britpop to raw indie rock/lofi to experimental/electronic to a more mature sounding alt-rock with global influences. I don't think many people recognize how ballsy some of those changes were. Blur were almost seen as a boy band at a certain point. As soon as the moody single Beetlebum and the self-titled came out, everyone said it would alienate their teenage fanbase and it was seen as a sort of commercial suicide. It was indeed a dramatic departure from their britpop roots, and they eventually went further with the following visceral album, 13. Ironically the self-titled was the album which spawned their biggest and most recognized hit worldwide, Song 2. Love them so much, each album provides a whole different experience

Agreed! M5 were good in their early days, but now they are...I hate to say it, THE definition of a sellout band. Sadly ☹

Just a little constructive criticism: you are a bit repetitive and so your videos appear long and boring in some parts, you could try to say things in a better and shorter way in order to keep the viewers entertained. In addition to this, try to edit more your video: this helps to make the video more clear, easy to watch and keep the viewer more entertained. I hope I helped you a bit because I'm interested in your content but your work could be done in a better way

Re: Maroon 5 - Cold: You have to at least admit it's not as bad as "Don't Wanna Know (know know know know know know know...)" (Yes, I did that on purpose!) But you're right about Maroon 5 de-evolution. It's like Maroon 5 has become code for "Adam Lavine's failed pop career" lately. Other bands that have changed over time include Coldplay and (while technically not a band) Owl City. The last one maybe not so much, but you can't say that A Head Full of Dreams sounds from the same vain as Parachutes! And I have a new SOS episode idea: 7 Albums that genuinely surprised me (Basically, it's the exact opposite of the one you did on albums that disappointed you. You can talk about 7 albums that you weren't expecting much from, but ended up winning you over upon release.)

R.E.M. made a pretty significant change between their 80s Radio Free Europe sound and later stuff like Everybody Hurts.
