November 16th, 2011. A young woman is going about her daily life, making her way to a class, minding her own business. Through the corner of her eye, she notices a pickup truck following her down the road at a close distance, before she knew what was happening, the driver had leaped from the vehicle, grabbed her from behind, thrown her to the floor, and dragged her into the trunk. The vehicle, wheels spinning, speeds off leaving a patch of red-hot tarmac and a cloud of dust in its wake. The young lady, screaming and terrified has no idea what is going on or what will become of her.

I was an opiate and coke addict for 5-6 years. I did anything EXCEPT crimes to feed my habit. I was raised well and that’s a line I’d never cross. No matter how sick I got. I’m ashamed because I did steal and beg so I guess technically my parents could of pressed charges but it was mostly just money from their Wallet or purse, took a tv one single time and pawned it. But other than that it was just making up crazy excuses for why I needed money and my parents played ball for a while. Then they caught on and my mom was the weak link. My dad shut me down cause he was the tough love type. My mom couldn’t say no and I took advantage of it. Definitely ashamed of that. But I’ve been sober for years know and I have a great relationship with my parents and sister. I came to a point where I was sick of being miserable and I did what it took to get myself over that hump. I went to a no time limit treatment and only went home when I was more than ready. It took tons of work and it sucks it took me so long to realize it but I’m so glad I did.

@@johnnyallenshaneprater4870 I Too,b would LOVE TO HAVE YOU HEART IT. But I'm not going to do your work for you. So, why don't you look up the poor girl in Australia who was hiding in the.bushes begging for the operator to send help because she was being hunted. She was whispering because she didn't want to be heard by her pursuers and the operator told her that if she couldn't be bothered to speak up, she must not really need help all that much. The caller died. Or the paper delivery mom who was out trying to earn a living for her children, took a wrong turn in the middle of a flash flood on unfamiliar streets because of all of the road closures and spent almost 25 minutes begging forgiveness from the bitch of an operator whose last day at work meant that instead of consoling and trying to help the caller, she berated her for being stupid enough to get herself into deep water on a busy rescue night. That caller died also. There are so many others, but you need to look them up for yourself as you don't believe that this happens. Maybe, after hearing the utter panic of the callerand the callousness of the operators, you will see it next ght just as well be you or someone t you love who needs help and gets only attitude, ridicule and laughter instead of lifesaving measures.

As a recovering addict, this guy is correct. In your addiction you’ll do things you would NEVER do sober and screw people over that you NEVER thought you’d screw. The worst thing I’ve ever done was take pills from an uncle in law that was dying of cancer. Somehow I thought it would be okay because “he won’t notice because he has 100 of them AND he has cancer, he can get as many refills as he wants whenever he wants”. What you don’t realize is that guilt will eat you up more than if you had been caught red handed. Also as a recovering addict I want to say that his addiction is NOT why he did that and is NO excuse. Just because you’re high doesn’t mean you don’t have ANY morals at all. Even as an addict we have certain lines we will NOT cross. For me it was stealing. I would NEVER steal items to pawn for a little more $. I’d steal any pill you had, but never items or cash. I know that doesn’t make much sense, but addicts rarely ever do make sense.

I agree. My line was not stealing from people only from big companies like Wal-mart. I knew people who would steal from single mom's, the elderly and the poor I would never cross that line. It is weird how even in our addiction we justify thing's and hold on to some type of morals. 17 years clean and sober, once I had a clean day I never went back.

Thanks for the upload - never heard of this case before. Glad Cassie was found alive and well, but too bad the same couldn't be said about poor Richard. I'll bet that neighbor walking her dog must have some regrets about not calling the cops that night when she heard the ruckus coming from his trailer. I know a lot of people don't like to get involved, but when you know a neighbor is a kind, soft-spoken man and then hear something so unusual coming from his trailer, I think that warrants at least a call to the police for a well-being check. Anyhow, glad this POS will never be walking the planet a free man again!!!

A lot of professional and well established people use certain drugs. There's no such thing as a "gateway drug"; this felt more like a D.A.R.E lesson. Nathan Parsons was a drug addict, and most people who use recreational drugs aren't going to end up on heroin. Also, most heroin addicts aren't going to become kidnappers and attempted killers. Demonization of addicts and addiction just further isolates people with addictions and it is really damaging. I like this channel and their work, but there's a real problem with how mental illness is addressed in the true crime community. Most murderers and abusers are not mentally ill or addicted to any substances, and even if one or both applies, that isn't what leads to their actions. Why is that always blamed, but no one ever points out the majority, which aren't?

Well said, I was an active addict for nearly 20yrs. I tried everything, but my go to was mainlining hydromorphone (dilaudid). I held down 2 jobs, 1 was to fund my addiction. Never physically hurt anyone but myself, and never even thought that way. Several years clean now. I think the stigma of addiction has a lot to do with some people not asking for help.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Like, I get what the scriptwriter is trying to imply, but comes across as so self-righteous and misinformed. Many of these people have mental illnesses such as ASPD (antisocial personality disorder, where there is a disregard for other people), Psychopathy (deficient emotional responses, lack of empathy, and poor behavioral controls) or a handful of others/combination of a few. So while it is difficult for people like you and I to understand, to them it’s just hardwired into their brains and not because they just woke up one morning and decided to be a horrible person. RIP Richard. You deserved so much better than this garbage. I'm so glad that Nathan was too stupid to take Cassie's phone. That most definitely saved her life. She did a great job and thankfully, her 911 dispatchers weren't the idiots we so often hear in these cases. This monster really shouldn't have been offered the chance to escape the death penalty. We all know you sit on death row for decades before the sentence is carried out and that's what he deserves.

I don't know about your reality but when I was 15 and all full of piss and vinegar I squared up with my dad. I was 6'2" and about 220lbs and my retired Sgt FC dad was 6'1" and 165lbs and 61 years old beat my ass like a rented mule. I was being disrespectful and deserved it, but I learned my lesson. My dad was a hell of a lot more experienced than I was.

15 and 60 is a lot different than 28 and 72. At 15, you are still a kid.. not even fully grown.. and at 60 you are still fairly strong. At 28, he is in the prime of his life.. as strong as he will ever be... and at 72 you are very much on the downside. But also, each person is different. If your dad was a Sgt. Then he has training, skill, and years of conditioning.

I can tell you from personal experience that drug use (like heroin, pain killers, opiates etc...) ABSOLUTELY can destroy your life. Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones. I was able to quit using, and turn my life around. But sadly many do not. So please heed my warning, it's NOT WORTH IT! The withdrawals are excruciating, both mentally and physically.

Ok Rob Rob, it’s time. U know it. Make the decision and stick to it. U don’t need an expensive rehab if U can just keep a promise to yourself and have one sober reliable human that cares. I care, and I don’t even know u your ass. Find the best doc for least cost. Use the $ for the doc instead of DOC. Get on maintenance, and when you’re ready get off. Just do it. It’s going to suck real bad for at least a month, probably once when u start with doc, and then again when u get off the maintenance. Do not ever do the one who cares for u dirty. Just ask them if they can help. Tell them the things u will need. U need a room. Hotel if necessary. U need to eat and drink water the best u can. U know the things that will help for the addiction u have. Treat the symptoms and just stick to your decision. Just decide. Please. If it can’t happen in the literal place u are, then leave and search for what u need. I don’t want to hear any excuses. I know U can do it
