13:05 Just a clarification... Carribean and American flamingos are the dame subspecies... it's just another puma, mountain lion, cougar, panther example... a different name for the same animal

I appreciate the clarification, not sure why some zoo's call them American vs Caribbean.

Towards the end of part 1 going through the African preserve is one of my favorite because my favorite animal is the African elephant. However, in part 2 I still see a couple of zebras, giraffes, and African elephants why are they not on The Preserve isn't there enough room on The Preserve for them? or were there just extra giraffes, zebras, and elephants and they need to have their own enclosures in the African section? How come we didn't get to see the professor or did we see him at the end walking back to the Preserve?

Elephants are typically separated by age and gender. They will move them from the main habitat to the other. The giraffe and zebra move around too.

As you are so good at filming zebra butts, did you know that you can tell what type of zebra it is by its butt. The Grevy's Zebra has very thin stripes, the Hartman's Mountain Zebra has very thick stripes, more white than black. The Grant's Zebra has thick stripes, equal amount of black and white. The Damaraland Zebra, has a brown shadow stripe between the black and white stripes.

I've seen the first 3 types of Zebras but have yet to see the 4th. I swear those zebra seem to know I'm there and turn around 😅

At 40.00, another odd name for this zoo to use Guenon, most zoos have dropped this name and replaced it with monkey. The genus name was Guenon, but is rarely used these days. The name is pronounced GWEN-ON, it being of French origin, I think it was for a colourful soldier, like a Grenadier Guard.
@TomsRoadTrippin Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've only noticed the name Guenon at a few zoo's that I have visited.

If they get approved to expand to the river. I am hoping the city will grant approval so the zoo can expand their footprint.

At 36.15 you find a Tomistoma? Very odd to use this name, as it is normally called the False Gharial. It resembles the Indian Gharial, only more crocodile like. The name Gharial comes from the Hindu word for a clay pot, because the male Gharial grows a small lump at the end of its snout. Tomistoma, is part of this animals scientific name Tomistoma schlegeli.

It's nice to see it called the more obscure name, it just adds to the enjoyment for me. I really appreciate all the facts you share.
