Nearly 20 years of listening to these talks and I am STILL discovering another layer of awareness.

Quite possibly the most important video of all time for me when it comes to dealing with life and people...

You would be above it all but may still need to take action, just not from a place of upset or hurt. You would respond as opposed to reacting.

Is he a Jessuite Priest? I thought I heard that somewhere.. nothing about him in the information and I though that was odd. Thank you from Oregon

Hi @peacelovejoy8786, De Mello was a Jesuit priest, yes! There's a bit more information about him and his work online here: www.demellospirituality.com/meet-tony/ Hope that helps a bit more on your journey!

If you get wrongly accused and sentence to prison, this is nothing to get upset about? If someone woke up and found out that everything they have worked for was taken away is this not something to get upset about? If the children you raise are taken away before your own time runs out is this not something to get upset about? In order to except this speech understanding is to be had which is an emotion. Without emotion you cannot get upset in the first place but we all posses this. The problem isn't that we shouldn't get upset but how to respond and handle each situation. If we took this person off stage does anything he says matters? He says if he took one of us and replaced us where is the problem so if we did the same to him does any of his words hold any meaning anymore then the person before or after him? People don't get upset about a broken promise but the principle of being betrayed which is something to get upset about. When you put trust within someone that never meant to hold it but says they would is a human emotion that allows one to feel what he claims is so wrong to do. He literally talked for 11 minutes and said not a single word that holds meaning more important then the lives we live. In order to not get upset we'd have to except his words but that in itself is programming which contradicts this entire speech.

It's so important to listen to his words in their full context in order to truly understand and see the full picture. It would answer your questions. Life happens with all its beauty and all its violence and we can be here for it and be in interaction with it without the suffering and at times hellish experience of it. No 2 people experience the same event the same way, so it's YOU not IT. As he mentions in other work, you never trusted another person, you trusted your judgment of that other person. So if anything, you should be upset with your judgment 😊 If instead of reacting, you tried his words on like a jacket that you tried on but knew you could take off if it didn't suit you, I think your whole life would be altered in the best possible ways.

Why did Jesus weep once Why did he get angry too. Seems people hurt and saddened him. Seems he could feel grief loss. What. would De Mello say to Jesus. This stuff!!

What is the definition of programming here? Babies get upset, for example if a toy is snatched from them. It would seem that society did not have a chance yet to program them to react this way. Perhaps biological programming is also included here?

Your allowed be upset. They are feelings. Do babies wake up 4 weeks later still crying? We do when our toys get snatched. That's programming.
