After the changes they made to the pilot survivability when you hit the ground it is even more incredible to see the guy at 14:40 survive. Nowadays it feels like ditching the plane is already a gamble.

I really enjoyed the jabo missions in the video. Of course CAPping makes it easier to engage a fight on your terms, increasing the probability of a succesful outcome. In a jabo mission, you don't have that luxury and you much more have to do with the situation that you encounter, as your team did multiple times and really quite well. To some extent it takes more guts to go for a jabo mission because you are more vulnerable almost by definition. From that perspective it was more interesting to watch than a video about sniping victims from altitude. As said, you guys did really well.

Those are actually static bonfires that the map designers place to indicate the point at which you should start your takeoff roll / landing. It's sort of a common IL2 design language; not sure how much that was done in real life.

@@aemmerich i think in contrast to a wind sock the smoke of the fire indicates wind direction correctly in IL-2.

You guys always seem to be lucky enough to run into enemies with poor SA who make silly mistakes. Wish I was lucky enough to have that happen to me. Only happens on rare occasions :-/
