As a musician i can tell you it could be bc of the synths and square waves which we usually correlate with old music in the 80s or video game music. Some synths can also sound a little distorted and off tune, which makes them more bittersweet. And the melody is simple here, with the upbeat sound, it gives everyone a feeling of childish glee. Another reason could be that some people attach this song to an old memory in their brain and when it fits, it feels more personal and nostalgic despite the fact the song never appeared in the aforementioned memory.

Ah, I remember that one day I binged the entire original BFDI series on my old iPad when I was a kid, and _then_ binged the few episodes BFDIA had at the time. I never returned to it since then, and now it's probably been a decade since then. I actually graduate from college in two days. I still have that old (and non-functional) iPad 2 in its old box in one of my drawers. This song (which I can't remember if it was in any of those episodes) takes me back to those innocent days. Once a KZbin kid, always a KZbin kid.

When I was little, my mom had a flip phone, it was a very small one and I remember I used to grab it to play a game of a submarine in a pixel art style, I had to go throwing bubbles I don't remember.
