Rhett & Link are honestly much better actors than I would have expected. Their usual acting style is the sort of playful joking style you see in their music videos. But the acting they've done in these October shorts, especially this one, really shows that they know even the little subtle details needed to really make their characters shine through. Notice the way that Link's face quivers briefly when he tries to read Rhett's mind about the phone call, but just sounds like he's copying him. Notice especially his eyes and the way he intentionally almost stutters. Very subtle but impressive how he doesn't just *sound* like he's frustrated and rushed, but really makes himself LOOK like it as well. Then look at the way Rhett's face adjusts right as he pulls the bag off of Link's head. He makes a very brief pause before speaking, a gentle expression with a smile Like he's speaking to a child and wants to convey friendliness and wonder. Little details, I know, but they've shown that Rhett and Link aren't just talented scriptwriters, but impressive actors as well. Thank for the free shorts you two. Theory: His best friend, Link, died tragically and Rhett couldn’t cope with the loss. Rhett did all the searching he could to find something to relieve his pain, anything that could fill the void within him. He found, eventually, a secret organisation in which based itself around fulfilling deep desires in return for that persons dedication to black marketing. Rhett contracted to this organisation, promising to devote his work to the black market and in return would gain back his friend. To create this new Link they extracted precise DNA samples but needed a mind source that is still active and chose that of Rhett’s as his personality traits were most suited to Link’s and they shared the same memories. However, the downside is that, when exposed to micro waves (not the appliance but the radiation emitted from them) it triggers something in Links new brain cells that gives him the ability to attach itself back to its primary mind, Rhett’s. Hence why he can predict and assume his actions, thoughts and words. This is a fault in the creation and therefore must be replaced immediately as it does not perfectly fulfil the wishes of the client/contract.

Their friendship is truly a rare type to occur. They have become who and what they are through it. Had they have never met, these two would not be the men they are now, nor would they be successful in they way that they are. They are not only products of their family, but also of each other. It is hard to have a friendship like this. Most fizzle out in time...particularly after the school years. I hope they never have to be without. They would never be the same. This skit does hit pretty hard at the end..... You get a glimpse into something you can't quite put words to, but you can most certainly feel it. And I think most of us wish it were something we had in our lives, ourselves. Some of us remember the ones we used to have as children, but do not have anymore. I am glad they still have theirs.

theory: Link died from the sketch "did you get me anything" because Rhett did not make it on time to the hospital and Link died from the venom, the other sketches was from the past up until the sketch "bff" that Rhett earning money for the descovery of the monkeysnake and decided to clone his bff link but the cloning did not go so well that link can sometimes have some malfunctions causing Rhett to recycle link, also the reason why link ate that light bulb was because that was not the real link it was a clone of link and can't really act human, Rhett refusing to let his childhood best friend go clone link and recycle the malfunction link and the cycle continues until they finally dies and be reunited with his original childhood best friend.

Theory: link died and Rhett couldn't deal with the pain of losing his best friend so he made clones, but he had to use a part of himself. After a while a link clone will start thinking exactly like Rhett so Rhett has to obtain a new clone. Rhett refuses to let his best friend go. 😢 But I really loved this. Keep and it actually made me cry at the end.

My theory is that the original Link kept gaining more and more "talents" which made Rhett jealous. Link would get more attention and fans which led to Rhett becoming the side kick. This eventually drove Rhett to kill Link. Unable to cope with the loss of his best friend, Rhett spent years studying and founding his own government agency that works with the cloning of humans. He took DNA from the original Link and uses that to duplicate him. Every time a duplicate learns a new talent, Rhett takes the precaution to "recycle" them as he is afraid that history will repeat itself and he will become inferior to Link. In the video Rhett even tries to convince the duplicate that he has not gained a new ability, even though he has. The Rubik's cube alludes to Rhett forcing his way to happiness rather than taking the fair/just route and accepting the challenges of life

Shaking his head in hopes that it will hold back the tears. And the fact that he in fact DID change the words after Link said them, because maybe if he could convince Link that he didn't have the power, then it wouldn't be a problem, and he wouldn't have to request a recycle. And the constant staring at the Rubix Cube, because he's just been reminded once more that this isn't really Link - this is just a clone - and now he can't meet his eyes. And the ending. :'(

And every time he scrambles the cube and paints over it it's like getting link back then recycling for a new one cause of the powers. What I'm saying is that the cube is current link with a scrambled happy mind. But when he paints over the cube that's the blank link or new link that's replacing current link then he scrambles the cube or getting the memory back then it cycles back to the powers the other link comes back and whatever comes next until the cycle stops
