1st Belgrade HUG Kick-off Event! Three presenters that cover games, visual design, and FX for film (large-scale oceans) span over the evening of September 23, 2022. Crater Studio graciously lent us their cinema room for this event. You can find each segment of the evening down below - enjoy!
Don't Over-complicate | Bogdan Amidžić and Igor Žanić
Bogdan and Igor will look at a complex FX shot and suggest simple approach to achieving the look. These tips not only encompass and affect what you do in Houdini (kitbashing FX, separate HDAs for trails and splashes, etc) but also your hardware resources because caches can be $$$.
H19.5 SOP FLIP Fluids for Film/TV | Igor Žanić
Newly introduced SOP-based FLIP fluids in Houdini 19.5 allows for fast setups without having to exchange data between SOP and DOP networks. Over many Houdini releases, Igor Žanić has been an active and contributing force in helping to improve performance, stability and workflow of FLIP fluids. Having been part of this most recent H19.5 beta, Igor rigorously tested SOP-FLIP tools and workflow and will be demonstrating custom boundaries (FLIP Boundary SOP), and simplified examples of how to take low resolution simulations, partially upres and blend between the two. vimeo.com/7605...

25:20 intentionally add noise over time to colision volume for intresting spash generation. 31:44 use whitewater images from stormy ocean stamp them acros surface and use them to emite whitewater.(2 jpg files)

Anyone ever thought to use Houdini to procedurally generate vehicles like Cars and ATVs? I mean Google is useless and the designs are endless.

Obviously not a good engine. All this physics should be made and ready in engine and not a trick of an artist. You set water volume and depth, wind, gravity force, wave size and direction, then it does it all for you, whatever you throw in that water - a ship, cayak, whatever. Any object. So for now, it is a nonsense to learn how to do the "effect". This should be physics simulation engine.

With that mindset you should really stay away from any kind of work in the 3d industry. Solutions out of the box are fine and desired but there is not a thing like a magic formula. Sure you can use the shelf tools but it won't help you professionally if you dont have a previous knowledge of the tool.
