I try to listen but I just can't rock wit it! I'm SWAC TILL THE DAY I DIE!!! JSU (War and Thunder Crab of 95 Quad Squad) I gave it a chance because yall have my old Percussion Instructor Mr.William Bethea! So out of respect for the Big Homie I listened, but I left that Corps style back in High School and The Marine Corps!!! I Got FUNK when I went to Jackson State!!!! Now dont get me wrong, I'm not down playing either Section, because I think any of these HBCU Corps Style Sections will give Star of Indiana, or The Blue Jackets, ect.....PURE HELL!!! I was just saying that I grew up in that style and I was glad that I went to an HBCU SWAC Division School with more concentration on FUNK as well as chops!!! But Both of Yall Sections ARE SMASHIN!!!! Props from an Old Head WT Alumni, K.K.Psi, & Phi Mu Alpha

I wonder how this would be if the same number of people played on each side. Yea MD legit. But A and T just sound bigger. I like A and T last cadence better than their first but I wish MD would move a bit more during the chopping sessions but it is kind of hard without a harness. I feel a and T is more entertaining but I rather learn from and hear MD because of technicality and execution.
@Southside757Virginia4 жыл бұрын
Norfolk state Band way bigger than this these probaly was the New Freshmans but they still beat this battle on a land slide 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
@DrumLuv233 жыл бұрын
Moving around isn't MD's style. Their focus is destroying competition with chops and chops alone. That is their appeal to their audience.
@blairpattterson2 жыл бұрын
I dont watch drumline battles to see ppl dance, i watch them for the beats, and MDs beats were better. I think A and T should actually shrink their numbers and dance less, they sound dirty

@@blairpattterson both lines had dirty moments go watch a dci line then come back and watch this

@@stickdog1230 i agree that both lines had moments, but it is absolutely undeniable that NSU is cleaner. They always are, in every battle ive seen

I’m glad A&T got straight to the point without all the usual theatrics. They even brung out some choppy cadences but it was no match for MDFS. Easy dub for them

The size of the line is why I give coldsteel that extra respect and props; if anyone knows “difficulty”; it’s getting 10+ snares to NOT sound like flams on solo licks; 4-6 quints; and look at that bass line 😭😭😭mdfs did play heavier musical shit; but look how compact they are; just not as hard to compose as coldsteel’s massive line
@frankbrown60882 жыл бұрын
NSU MDFS in my opinion is the only HBCU that should play corp style. I have seen footage from the 80s with the same sound! Hats off to keeping tradition! However, MDFS for whatever reason chose the corp style. In my opinion, was a bad decision. They sound great! Look great! But, the footage I have seen. They rarely win the crowd! Save their own fans! They DEFINITELY did NOT lose, based on playing! Not saying that at all. Now A&T has some corp style infused! Still would not consider them a corp style section! A&T had more of the HBCU feel in their cadences. So I give the "W" to A&T! Did not necessarily out-play MDFS. However, they represent more of the HBCU spirit in this battle! Big S/O to both sections for execution and approach to the craft! ✊🏾

as a participant in this battle, I'd just like to say that It's not really a battle if you practice a show all week and line us up 30 yards apart. We didn't prepare anything for them, but they did all that for us lol. MDFS is corny.. Also they've never went to PASIC and have no ties to DCI... But Coldsteel does lol. we create our own vibe... MDFS gives "DCI" vibes lol. Not original vibes..
