Cops assume kids are lying which is fucking ridiculous because a lot of kids don't even have the capacity to lie about abuse. Most of the time kids don't really understand how to believably lie about serious topics until they're older teens, like 15-19 range. Like, If he didn't know, then he was sending kids there without even checking the places out in the most cursory way. They were banging on the door and ringing the doorbell hundreds of times. They started screaming at me, "WHERE IS YOUR FATHER? WHERE IS HE?!" It felt like they were there to arrest him or something. It was like I was being swatted, not "checked on". I called my parents and they were shocked and confused. I started sobbing uncontrollably in fear saying "HE'S NOT HOME HE'S NOT HOME." Only then they disclosed my ex's name. I still doubt her call was well-meaning, she used to be on the streets and has a very ACAB stance as a result. “It’s not his fault all he did was recommend a program” - OK, then it's the parents or legal guardians' fault because why in the Hell would ANYONE allow a supposed "Psychologist" to ship their kid off to some random place without researching it themselves and practicing caution? This is such a bogus counterargument for anyone to waste their time on - Dr. Phil's a grown-ass adult. He's the only person that's constantly recommending & pushing the Ranch onto troubled kids, not anyone else that walks on his stage. And once the parents sign that contract, Dr. Phil's 1000% responsible for what happens to each and every kid that he sends off. I’m sorry but a psychologist that “treats” patients by ridiculing them on TV does not deserve to be called a psychologist. No matter how nice he seems, he’s a TV personality doing what he does for fame, acclaim and money disguised as charity and “helping”. Not a healthcare worker who truly cares about the well-being of their patients otherwise he wouldn’t be involved in a show like that. Like ffs literal children go on his show and the format is there for the purpose of embarrassing them in front of a live audience when they could actually have underlying issues that should be dealt with in private. Acting and overdramatisation or not, the fact that parents even let their children take part in a show like that is sad. If they were faking the issues in the first place they probably actually have issues now from what they have to go through in the aftermath of the show. - from a psychologist-to-be

I was horrified shaking and crying, the whole car trip they wouldn't let me close the door to use the bathrooms, took all my belongings, didn't let me eat for tge whole 8 hours it took to get there, treated reated me like a criminal. When i finally got there it was filthy and depressing. Immediately interrogated me and asked me all sorts of weird prying questions that i wasnt comfortable awnsering but would gaslight me by telling me that i was "trying to hide something" when i didnt awnser. The whole premise of these things are to trap kids there as long as possible to make money, you're never "rehabilitated" untill they say so much like asylums in the 20th century, they also keep kids tgere after they turn 18 essentially holding legal adults hostage. I was only there for less then a day and the things i saw there were horrific. Two grown men dragging a crying girl down the hallway to be put in isolation, animal abuse of the dogs that were supposed to be therapeutic for the kids, multiple fights breaking out either between the kids or the staff, disgusting living conditions and cramped cabins, all of it was terrible. The only way i managed to escape being there was so beg and sob for my mom to please rethink this when she came down a few hours later to drop off my stuff. The moment she started describing the transporters, I had flashbacks. I wasn't told where I was going and when I got there, I had to strip down to my underwear for a search. It was in the middle of nowhere. They told my family I was going to get therapy because I was a high risk teen, but I never got therapy at all. These "schools"/facilities/camps/programs are really terrible. The one I went to was shut down after I left and turns out staff were having relationships with the kids there. None of the staff were trained to watch over us, by the way. There is still more places like this if you look into WASP. I feel so sorry for her and I hope she gets her apology. I never got mine from my family. edit: Thank you to everyone for the support and kind words. Honestly I was most upset at my family because I thought I was going to a mental hospital to get help. I learned about 30 minutes into the drive that this wasn't the case. I felt betrayed and uncared for when it came to light that they only sent me to finish highschool. None of the girls and staff understood why I was there once I told them my story. I stayed quiet the whole time I was there but I saw many things. I used all my time to finish school as soon as possible so I could go home. Once I did, I shut my family out from ever knowing of my mental health ever again. I feel most sorry to the girls and boys who are put into these places without a way to speak up. Our weekly emails to our parents were monitored and screened throughly so no one could say anything. There's many more places worse than where I was at all over the USA and few opened outside of the USA. I was lucky not to have anything happen to me, but knowing it did happen to the girls who were with me, before and after, left me feeling disgust and guilt. I still get nightmares from the confinement so much I could easily draw every single room down to the finest detail. I am doing much better now despite all of this. Thank you so much again and thank you to D'Angelo for making a video touching on this subject.

Also a lot of these places were "reformed" into helping youth programs, specifically targeted at troubled teenagers who needed help. The one I went to was 2,000 USD a month and they took in ages as young as 13. Several of the girls I talked to were there because their parents sent them as a scare tactic and the first month was free. Another girl was there because her mom was abusive and she had been forced to live in multiple programs all her life until she was forced to leave at 18. The handcuff thing is true, as per told from another girl I became "friends" with. It was her second time there and the transporters took her during the day.

@@katc2040 they can easily just reopen with new staff and a new name in a new place, it's pretty easy for them to keep operating when they're connected to governmental departments that want these places to stay in operation: Basically the NIDA (National Inst on Drug Abuse) drives most of the national grants and policies around drug abuse and prevention, and DFAF (Drug Free America Foundation, the rebranding of Straight Inc - one of the original "troubled teen" facilities) drives a lot of what NIDA thinks through it's political control and connections, and that has repercussions. And then SAMHSA (the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, which is a branch of the US Department of Health and Human Services) is providing DFAF with money to run all their referrals into TTI (troubled teen industry) programs. Don't forget that Paris Hilton spoke up about places like this too. She was also a victim of one of these trauma prisons for children.

Yes, it is an industry that has been destroying lives for decades. Hopefully they will pass laws to stop the abuse.

Riiiiight!!! Jesus how are these institutions even legal???
@NatalieMarie9173 жыл бұрын
@@steldalcien8699 it’s because they’re not _supposed_ to operate that way, and it’s often very hard to prove when they do. When they do end up shutting down some of these places due to misconduct, they tend to just reopen under a different name, and then the cycle repeats itself. The reason they have been able to gain support in the first place is because of their outcome data (which tends to be pretty sparse and kind of questionable much of the time). What’s crazy to me is that they are not all required to record or report outcome data. I often see them just showing old data that has been released by other, unaffiliated, programs/facilities.

I'm 37 and so always saw Danielle as the CHILD she was. I couldn't believe how many grown people were bullying a child. I just wanted to take her home and give her a loving family and straighten her out. She is sounding so much more mature now and I'm glad to see it.

I'm glad there's adults that can actually see through her online persona and recognize that she was a child when everything happened. You're a good person.

Honestly I have a hard time seeing why even with parental consent something like this is legal. This should be tantamount to child abuse.

it's scary how much the recognition of someone's humanity is contingent on liking them for so many people.
As someone with autism who isn't necessariliy the most likable, especially since I have difficulty socializing or making friends, "normal" humans and their standards for who is allowed to be treated with basic civility terrifies me to no end.

The kidnapping she describes is a very common “therapy” tactic they use especially in wilderness therapy. Involves unlicensed “therapists” with no wilderness knowledge in any of the staff or for the child... and then leaving the kid in a forest for x number of days

Look up the documentary " kidnapped for Jesus" I believe that is what it's called. It's awful what these places do to children! It's a rough watch but I believe the place has been shut down. Parents were sending their kids there for some of dumbest reasons. So fuckin sad

what's crazy to me is people say "i wont trust that you've been abused when you say were because you have a bad attitude" and then don't realize that maybe the reason why they act out is because they were abused??? Make it make sense, kids don't just act out for no reason, there's always a reason.
