Bhairav Kunda, one of the holiest shrines for Shamans, bears the name of Lord Shiva's destructive form. Both Hindu and Buddhist devotees travel to this holy mountain lake at a height of 4200 meters every year around the time of the Bhadra (August) Full Moon to offer respect and bathe to wash away sins.
The main area of worship of the holy site is the cave just below the temple where in , according to Hindu Mythology , Lord Shiva had Meditated . A Lake Naturally Formed in the site , where in Years after , A shiva Linga was discovered by Hermits Meditating in the area, Hence the Name "Bhairab-Kunda" .
