Lord Chaitanya mahaprabhu was not against idol worship, ISKCON is the example of that, ISKCON is the follower of lord Chaitanya mahaprabhu and you forgot to mention about Madhwacharya who preached dvaitha philosophy...Mirabai was also not against idol worship They believed that god is omnipresent and omnipotent, he is present everywhere and he can do anything, if he can be present everywhere, there is not fault in worshipping an idol of saguna murthi of god. Plain idol worship without acquiring knowledge of bhagavata purana and Bhagavad Gita is also waste.

I'm not preparing for IAs or anything. I come here out of curiosity. just wanted to ask aspirants a question : if most of these bhakti movementers denied rituals and made caste irrelevant to devotion.. why has the caste system persisted? how relevant is it today? why isn't it abolished? what do u think must be done regarding this issue? please give ur unbiased opinion.

Parshya S Till we have reservations, caste system persists till then and promotes hatred between each other, because most of us might have come to know our castes when we attend competitive exams, for me, I came to know my caste only when I attended my AIIMS exam after PUC, the good thing is that we aren't fighting and bombing each other just like Muslims fighting with each other like Shia and Sunni in the Middle East, the only way to eradicate caste system is to ensure free education to all the so called backward castes and bringing Vedic schools to backward castes and making them as priests in the temples. I think this will be the only way to eradicate caste system

And of course the upper castes will be offended with that arrangement. perhaps caste is best left out of education and it's favor must not be allowed for a candidate standing to be elected. many incidences of caste related violence still occur on a daily basis. a sizeable population still suffers the mal effects of caste system of past. maybe a reservation system based on economic standing rather than caste must be opted for.

Parshya S I think upper castes won't get offended because I'm also from so called upper caste and my dad is a temple priest and he himself told me this idea, but the government is not at all ready to do a thing like this, because they can't get votes on caste basis...India will be the only country where majority people can't even have permission to open a Hindu religious school like minorities

Parshya S And another thing, please don't ever fight for reservations even according to low socioeconomic or financial status, instead fight for giving free education and scholarships if needed for low financial status students, no reservations for anything

I don't whether Mr. Roman realize that there is no salvation in Dharma (indic religion). The actual word is "Moksha". Moksha does not have direct english translation. Moksha is getting rid of the cycle of life and death and be a part of nature. Salvation is biblical concept. Salvation means becoming free from sins as one is born sinner (christian concept).
