The West Midlands didn't actually exist until 1974, Birmingham was in Warwickshire until then.

The way we were la la la. We left Birmingham just before the Handsworth riots, this made me cry. Anyone can see where the Central ident came from, it was the colour ATV. lol. I still have my accent so sound a bit like Benny even though I am 49. WE, used to be a community, into each other's houses. WHERE, did it all go so badly wrong?

I agree. I grew up in the Tyne Tees region and can appreciate how important regional identity used to be, as reflected in our individual ITV stations. Bring back the old days :'(
