I don't know how Fortuner became more of an aspirational value and rich status than just being a normal car. If we start looking at it as a normal car paired with it's price, it makes no sense at all. Even if you look at it's positives like durability, reliability, rough and robust chassis, resale value, engine, maintenance, after sales, etc.. It just does not justify it's hefty price tag. Hycross costs almost half the price and gives you a lot of tech and performance. 1. No sunroof in a 60 lakh car: People who are buying are biggest fools I swear.. Nowadays hatchbacks are getting a sunroof!!!! Atleast give a single glass sunroof. 2. Brick like steering, crazy bodyroll and worst dynamics ever: I took a ride in a Fortuner. Forget about handling. Damn, it feels like you are travelling in a truck. Atleast a truck has better handling and lesser bodyroll. Ride is just too bouncy 3. Interior feels like a car from 2000s: And we are in 2020s. 4. Barebone features: In fact, Hyryder and Hycross get more features being 2 - 3 times cheap. 5. Toyota did not even do much to improve the aspirational value of Fortuner. It's the mad people who create the hype. Facelift is badly due!!!!!!!! 6. Meanwhile: Cars like Gloster have to be killed for nothing... Endeavour, Alturas, Meridian, Kodiaq... What not??

People who talk shit about fortuner have never been behind the wheels of one. Omg the torque rush at low rpm and that fast shifting 6 speed aisin TC which is tough and reliable with zero issues or lags. The main part is the 2.8 beast of a beasty engine. The only place where the endy fails in front of fortuner is the reliability, performance and as overall features and convenience is better on endy compared. The 2.0 and 2.2 diesels had decent punch for a huge vehicle that heavy and big which was paired with a awful 10 speed Auto which was lazy and problematic, the real workhorse was the 3.2L with that 6 speed TC not being the most powerful or reliable as that of fortuner's 2.8L and 6 speed TC.

I would never like to be behind the wheel of one, the steering is so hard, my family owns luxury cars from brands like BMW, Mercedes and Volvo, but we’d never get a fortuner the only reason being the ride quality which has a lot of sideways and vertical movement, cheap and outdated interiors (you don’t feel special), hard steering wheel and a noisy engine. Coming to the engine, the engine is a gem, we also have an Innova Crysta 2.8, it has a lot of torque and feels grunty but that doesn’t justify the price tag and also the craze behind a Fortuner, I mean come on it’s a Toyota after all, not G-Wagon!

Innova and fortuner has hydraulic steering not power steering dude. Of course engines are noisy it's a diesel so are the diesels from luxury brands are noisy on the outside but cabin insulation will be good that's the only difference.

Body on frame platform takes a lot of beating I agree but monocoque chassis provides better comfort, again it’s a matter of personal preference ig!
