Bheki Mseleku's 'Closer to the Source' - ZAR Jazz Orchestra (feat. Mihi Matshingana & Sisonke Xonti)

This is one of my favourite compositions from the iconic South African pianist/composer Bheki Mseleku, first recorded on the album 'Celebration' (1992). This arrangement was recorded in September 2019 at one of South Africa's premiere jazz festivals, Joy Of Jazz.

This interpretation is just not my cup of tea. Something about this arrangement just sounds off. Maybe it's the fact that the keys are not given room to breathe.
