I was on this ride in 2021 and at the 33km stop you caught my wife and daughter on your cam waiting for me at the gate LOL I must have not been far behind you

This is great. Always wondered what the route would look/be like. Thank you so much for posting.

I only found out that this was a thing last week, when I saw the signs up at Sunbury Lock and Weybridge Marina, while cycling along the Thames path. It was far too late to enter by then, but I'm tempted to have a crack next year.

Go for It. I’d recommend it as it’s great fun. There’s a night one too which isn’t a charity ride and is much smaller. Leaves xcel leisure centre about 10pm and ideally you’re on the South Downs at sun rise.

It was my first and I loved it. Very challenging for me. Got there in the end! 30:21 in the video - is that the guy on the Grifter…? Epic work! Thanks for posting this. Do you mind if I share…?

the guy on the Grifter did very well!

How long did it take you to complete it buddy? My friends and i have signed up to do it this year.
@simonwhite8092 Жыл бұрын
@@RaceMeNSee I took about 11.5 hours elapsed time both in 2021 and last year in 2022. However I was very unfit in '21 and did it in 7.5hrs actual riding time. In ,22 I did much more preparation and was about half a stone lighter and much fitter, and reckon I could have shaved an hour or so off that, however we were with someone else who was Mr Slow instead! I should add I am hovering around 17st, and am now starting to get the miles in in preparation. I would add that we had great weather both times, and it was dry. Final thought - enjoy it. It is worth taking time and looking at the scenery along the way as it is a beautiful part of England. Much of it is single track, too, so you'll be riding at the speed of those around you while you wait for a spot to overtake / build up a queue behind you! Some people go mad at it and try to smash PRs and all sorts, but thet isn't really what it is all about. Finally, rest stop #5 has an epic cafe with superb coffee and cake, so plan in some time for that, too. Good luck, and you will absolutely love it! Si

Hiya pal couple of questions: What's the song at 13:30? Is the the route well Marshalled?
@chrispearman3 жыл бұрын
Err need to check the song. As to marshalling. The route is easy to follow as there are so many of you. Route is fairly well marshalled at key points though.

I've signed up for the night mtb version of this in May. Has anyone here done it?? Tips and experiences??
@chrispearman3 жыл бұрын
Yeah night time is great. We're doing it again this year too. Night time one is great fun. All mtb'ers and a good craic. Sunrise on the South Downs is epic.

@@TheDomLouis Yeah, it's a good ride. Pray for the warm weather. Last year was shorts and t-shirt the whole way.... Think there's 3 of 4 of us in our group... Trick I reckon is don't stop too long at the rest points.

Hi Chris, looks like amazing ride, I’m doing it this Saturday with some friends as we couldn’t make it a few weeks back. I see you’ve got a Garmin. Is there a gps route you can download for this ride? Thanks Jack

Hi. Yeah it’s a good one. We’re doing the night time one too in June. Daytime one is a bit slower as it’s pretty busy but still fun. We left around 630 and rolled into Hove around 1pm. But it’s probably 4.5-5 hours of riding. Generally all fairly doable too. Once you’re past Surrey hills bit it’s pretty quick rolling along the Downslink, but save some energy for the hill at the end 👍.
