Bhojpuri Folk Song (Purbi) | Ajay Mishra | भोजपुरी लोक गीत (पूरबी)

On the occasion of Bihar Diwas, The Bidesia Project presents a Purbi folk song by Ajay Mishra and group from Chhapra, Bihar. This song 'Susukat Paniya Ke Jaaye' is about the feelings of a newly wed woman and her day-to-day struggles of living with her in-laws.
Purbi or Purvi is a type of Bhojpuri folk form that is sung on special occasions in Bihar. This raga was adapted into traditional Bhojpuri folk tunes and popularised by Late Mahendra Mishra (1886-1946). Ajay Mishra is a descendant of Mahendra Mishra and continues his legacy even today.
