Please notice most women have short hair. This was typical of Sukuma style with women in the 40s and 50s. They looked beautiful and clean despite hardship at that time. I am really impressed with this video.

Please notice women at 4:00 have equal height. This is video should have been shot in Maswa near Bariati where women were tall and beautiful. I worked there as county executive and found women were taller than those in Kwimba, Mwanza and Geita. A;sp Multiple Women there also willing to be married to same man. This was for their security. That also explained why there were no prostitute in that part of Sukumaland.

We Sukumas had that tradition when rich. The problem comes when the guy dies leaving so many kids without father. It is horrible experience without a father. Note also if the guy dies, his brothers will inherit his wives and adopt them as his children. The problem if the brother has another wife. This can be a problem to be raised by step mother or Mama wa kambo. Well, I wish the guy happy marriage and may be has cut down on prostitution in the country.

@@alexandronmsigala7510 Yes, they are his wives. Actually, I am not surprised that these Sukuma women wanted this man to be their husband. I hope women reading this posting will not call me names for telling the truth about some Sukuma women. When living in Ngudu, I met two beautiful girls who told me they wanted my cousin to be their husband. I was surprised to hear two women wanted to get married to one man- and these girls were doing everything to get my cousin. Well, I am not a woman, so I cannot criticize them for their freedom. But us men don't like our women to go with other men. This is a rough world; for we have to accept other peoples freedoms.

I do not think there is any community as happy in the world as Sukumas. May be could be the reason why other cultures wonder why we behave as we do. Look here, the whole village is enjoying wedding of a local doctor (herbalist). Old man, old women and youths all join in dancing or enjoying being there. Of course where I live now we have Farmers' market, football, basket ball etc. But you're there as audience. In Sukuma culture everybody is welcome to join at functions like now - wedding. Also look how women and girls are dressed-uniform. That is Sukuma tradition.
@pmbalele4 жыл бұрын
I hope I am not repeating myself. But I notice some audience or dance participants look Masai and are dressed as such. I had a Masai as village headman in my county of Maswa jurisdiction. He sounded very peaceful guy compared to what we heard in stories when young i.e Masai were mean. Maybe it was a myth. I believe they are regular people until you get into their nerves. Thanks for this exposure-people all over the world will now know Masai are regular people and we should not continue holding myth about them as mean. I did not find them as mean when I interacted with them for almost two years at Maswa County.

People in Wisconsin should be surprised that the driver of the doctor is drinking beer in public. That is he came out of the car with bottle of beer already opened. I believe he was drinking while driving. Of course there is no state patrol to arrest the guy. After all there are only a few cars in the village or county. So the chance to collide with other cars is slim. Further, Sukumaland is almost flat. Therefore chance to roll over is slim.

Well, living in Ngudu, two women told me wanted to be married to one man for they loved that man. Of course I was surprised hearing that for women and men don't want to mix up with others. That is what we call adultery or polygamy. Well, freedom of expression. If they want the same man, more power to them.

Wait a minute; I counted wrong before. Doctor Lutunya has 10 wives and the new one will make his 11th wife. Congratulation Doctor Lutunya. Did I guess right the video was shot in Maswa county. I see the trees and grass there to be those near Serengeti National Park. In that case Dr. Lutunya will have no problem feeding his wives for he can get meat easily from the park. Shoot one buffalo and will have meat for the whole month. Of course he will have to get permit from Maswa County executive.

@@alexandronmsigala7510 You're right. Some of us Sukumas do things nobody else in Tz does. Just imagine this guy has 11 wives and all are young, beautiful and look alike. He better hires another doctor to make sure he is okay in the morning after having two per night. I would not be surprised if he has two per night. Do I have evidence for that? Yes, When living in Maswa and Ngudu, I met two young girls who wanted to marry one man at the same time. I know women will not like this posting. But it is true. But this guy should avoid drinking too much beer. Drinking before going to bed will not help to avoid ED. I wish him the best.

Believe it or not this is a high energy performance. Even girls seem to have same strength as boys. I could not do the same at their age. This shows people in Tz are now well fed. Well, you can tell that from women bodies - they seem to be plump. Women in this video seem better dressed for the occasion. How many young wives does this guy have? I see 8 wives. The current wife is being introduced to the other 8 wives. Well, let's see how the guy will do. I hope he does not have ED. Well, I know Sukuma women don't cheat.

@@alexandronmsigala7510 I’ will translate it for you. "This is a local doctor; in the Western world we call Herbalist. His name is Lutunya - which means "shitty person". I do not think his parents gave him that name. Sukumas re-name themselves depending on their profession. So, he was going to have a brand new wife. Of course, he talked to other wives. Believe it the young wife had talked to her parents also seen the video; and they gave her okay to get married to Lutunya. So, he introduced her to the other wives. You see some wives were not that happy to see a brand new girl joining the crowd. But they put up with her and accepted her hand-shake." Interesting how the new wife was asking hand-shake.

@@alexandronmsigala7510 You're right. In fact, when in Mwanza in 1962-4, I was a research assistant working for Americans who were researching on Sukuma tradition and culture. I was amazed learning about my clan origin and how they spread from Bukungukila, Nela and Usimao. You can tell from my middle name "Masanja" which is common name in Maswa, Kwimba, Shinyanga and part of Mwanza. I will do so soon. I am now tied up with some cases here in Madison Wisconsin. Some racists here want to continue their racism. But, I have told them they are late to practice racism now for many Black people, including me, are as educated as White people..

@@alexandronmsigala7510 I simply know USA laws and how to present issues in courts up to the US Supreme Court. Some people here, Whites, Blacks and people of other colors, tend not to take trouble to know the law. US has enough laws to protect its citizens. But people who enforce those laws sometimes are themselves violators of laws. That is why you hear clashes between police and citizens. But if you know the law, you should not be afraid of police or any government official threat. In fact if a police or government official threatens you, please calm down and take the issue to court. You will get lots of money. Right now I have three major cases. I will alert you of the result.

People all over the Western world should agree Sukuma tribe is truly a free tribe. There you can marry as many wives as you can so long as you treat them right. Here is a typical example of a rich old Sukuma guy in the video showing marrying his 9th young wife. Interesting is that that he asked the 9th wife to introduce herself to the other 8 young but senior wives. Believe it she does and drops knee courtesy for each of his other 8 wives now senior to her. Bloggers below are not happy with this Sukuma male. They are jealousy-maybe. But I guess we should respect cultures of other nations or tribes. I am told Arabian king has quite a few wives. Recently we saw Thailand king whose bride had to roll on floor to show obedience to her future husband much old than her. I don’t think polygamy will be accepted in my neighborhood. That may explain why Christianity kind was not embraced in Sukumaland.

What is the name of the guy - Lutunya! Non-Sukumas may not be aware that Sukuma males re-name themselves after being successful in certain processions. I am sure his name was not Lutunya given by his parents. No parent will give their son such a name for it sounds like "stinking guy" just to be funny. Just separate his name: Lutu may mean something foul and "nya" may be something to do with droppings. Look at his face; he does smile - just to get your attention that he is serious with his profession - herbalist and cures people of their ailments whatever they may be. That may explain how he managed to have so many wives.

Yah! you're right - the guy has already 8 young and beautiful wives. Today he is wedding 9th now introduced to the other 8 wives. Also note his wives kind of look alike. Well, Sukuma males have always behaved the same when young and rich with young girls. Maybe it is pay back how the father of the girl behaved with girls belonging to other families. But I doubt if this guy will handle all 9 young wives. He will have to take energy shots or Viagra to cope with power of these girls if he decides to have two per night.

Please ask Trump why the disparity in age between him and his wife. Maybe we should encourage the whole world to be like Sukumas to avoid expensive divorces. A Sukuma male can have as many wives as he can provided his wives have housing, food, clothing and of course you know. The problem comes when the husband dies. Wives and kids get lost what to do. The distribution of father wealth also becomes a problem. Well, it's a Sukuma tradition if husband dies, wives are married by young or older brothers of former husband. Somehow it works. Surprising kids from polygamy families continue to love one another and never call one another as half-sisters or half- brothers. They call either sister or brother and no label of half sister and half brother. .

Did you guys notice his wives have Christian Crosses which labels them as Christians or Catholics. This is getting bizarre. I do not think Catholics and Christian religions allow men to have more than one wife. Well, I should take that back. With Sukumas everything is possible. You can mix Christian marriages and traditional marriages. The first one is Christian wife whereas the rest are Sukuma traditional wives but also believe in Christ and go to church on Sundays. That keeps the family together!
