You are right this sounds Ethiopian music- I realized this from documentary on bbc abut the happiness of Bhutanese. The Bhutanese democracy is measure through happiness.. In the documentary the accompanying music sounds almost Ethiopian..Then I start to hear some music on youtube.. Amazing

Bhutan was a tribal country more related to Northeast-Indian and Burmese. Slowly Tibetan, Mongolian, and Indian refugees(most commonly exiled) settled in some parts of the region. Yes, there are quite a number of Nepali ethnicity but their ancestor were craftsmen from nepal/Indian/Tibetan invited by Guru Padmasambhava, Zhabdrung, etc… to build Buddhist temples in Bhutan.
