She should not only be allowed to stay as long as she like but also should be granted Taiwan citizenship. That's just common sense and she is very sweet.
+Frangi Jérémy Agree. I think that Xu is too practical ! I am not a Taiwanese, but I like Taiwanese. I once lived in Taipei for 5 years, as heard from my Taiwanese friends, people in Southern Taiwan are even warmer than people in Taipei. So, if I choose to live in Taiwan again, it is for the Taiwanese people and the yummy food.
This is ridiculous. Taiwan has an population aging and decrease problem. Best way to solve it is to relax immigration law for foreigners. If USA can do it, why can't we?

first of all, and most of the all ............USA is much much much much bigger than Taiwan..............

The US "relax[ed] immigration law for foreigners"? Where did you get your crack? Anyways, she seems like a nice girl and should stay in Taiwan :D
Let the German girl stays in Taiwan and apply a special case let her becomes a citizen of Taiwan. And please all the people of PRC go back to China don't live in Taiwan, we do not want to share our country with Chinese communists.

You can say that again. We should accept all people who truly believe they are Taiwanese

We, Taiwanese, believe "freedom, democracy, and human rights."

Actually she can apply, once she turned 21. The people at immigration probably forgot to tell her about that

mahopacqc Taiwan and all countries who were at their industrial development stages (e.g. South Korea, Japan, England, Germany, etc) didn't have true "freedom, democracy and human rights". It is only after each of them have reach an economically advanced stage that a democratic system of government was installed. China, right now , is where Taiwan/South Korea was 20-30 years ago - dictatorship.

It's Ok you wish the german girl to stay... But if you even associate mainland into this, you are a bit paranoid.. If you just want to say these two things are related, there are actually more people in Taiwan having mainland relatives. Then how many special cases need to be dealt with
+chris91199199 Really? If she did surrender her German citizenship, I do not think the German government will give it back to her. German government is not that easy going.

Do you think more and more EU countries will allow dual citizenship even none of the parents is EU citizenship? Like Portugal, Spain, Greece, they now 'SELL' their citizenship cheaply in order to rescue their countries from huge financial crisis.

++ Julius Cactus. I am impressed by your sharing. By far, I think Taiwan is a good place for foreigners to live as the majority of people of people in Taiwan are friendly and warm. Also, the education and health care system may be one of the top 10 in the world, however, students, teachers and physicians there also face huge pressure that people from other countries may not understand. I do not know Taiwan has been low in foreign debt to GDP ratio. Does it mean Taiwan has more exports than imports? Or does it mean Taiwan does not rely on foreign trades that much? In the past few months, 'rich' countries in Europe such as UK, France, Germany have been overwhelmed by thousands and thousands of refugees flooded in. Under international laws, they should be forced to take a huge amount of such sudden migrants not to say they already dislike people of Romania and Poland a lot. 15 years ago when I visited Paris, Paris was like a paradise with elegant friendly people everywhere, now Paris is full of very low profile people that ruined France to a huge extent. I am really sorry for the French not only for their higher and higher taxes but also their house prices there have been pushed to rocket high. What a great mess in the world ! Taiwan has severe low birth rate and face horrible aging problem, do you think the Taiwan government should impose some more significant changes to attract more young and capable migrants to reduce their aging problems? Like Hong Kong and Singapore, they also have very low birth rate. 50% of the new born babies in Hong Kong are by BOTH NON-Hong Kongers parents, Hong Kong and Singapore can attract people from over the world to work and live there for good. Only one complaint to Taiwan government and schools, they do not have bilingual signs on highways, roads, campuses, those tiny things can cause huge barriers for foreigners who do not read Chinese. Can Taiwan government do similar things like Hong Kong and Singapore to solve the aging problem too? Of course, I do not hope Taiwan will use the 'Birth Right Citizenship' like what Hong Kong has been doing after 1997. I think it is more a curse to Hong Kong than a blessing. Many European countries and Canada also had birth right citizenship decades ago, after they abandoned it, they can selectively choose the people they need.

+ElizabethFuHua I am not a Taiwanese, but I hope she can stay in Taiwan as I think Taiwan is more like her country than Germany.
+Joanne Taipei Sorry to reply in English as I do not know how to type Chinese. You said "因為外籍新娘已經失去依親對象(沒老公了),又才來台灣不久,還沒拿到身分證,現行法律就是得走人." Really? That is very sad for the old parents without anyone to take care of. If a foreign husband or wife does not want to surrender ( give up ) their original citizenships but have been living in Taiwan for some years e.g. 3 years, 6 years. Can the foreigner still get the Taiwan ID card? Taiwan ID card = Permanent Resident Card ( e.g. Green Card in Canada or USA )?
If I didn't look at the video, I would have thought she is Taiwanese. Her "Taiwanese" Mandarin is perfect. By my account, she is Taiwanese, and they should let her stay.
+Jin Maniac (1) If she marries to a Taiwanese, will she get a Taiwanese 'citizenship' after 3 or 5 years of marriage? (2) Will she get a 'permanent' right to live in Taiwan ONCE after marrying a Taiwanese?
+bn4222 If an Afrian guy who grew up in Taiwan since he was 6 years old and speak NATIVE Mandarin like hers, I do think a lot of people will still want him to stay in Taiwan. For me, she is more like a Chinese than an European.
+Joanne Taipei You are correct. For me, I think it is best for her to get a translation or interpreting job which should be a very high pay job for her as she is native in both Chinese and German.
