Bianca everything you have shared works for all curls. Cleanse, condition and style. The styling part is where the chaos comes in because a lot of people think they need 5 different products to style when you don't. For the tight curl girls that need help, let's work on identifying how do you want to wear your hair? What style are you trying to achieve? What Biaca shares work for my tightly coils. I don't even use leave in.

My type 4 hair routine has definitely changed! A lot of things really shouldn’t be too difficult or different in our routines! A thorough rinse, clarifying shampoo, moisturizing shampoo, DC, detangle, rinse and style in a twist out! Uncle Funky's Daughter bye bye build up was the best cleanser for me. I did not have to pre poo when using it. That was my #1 cleanser. Any Briogeo conditioner gave me slip. Then I used Bread Beauty shampoo and conditioner which I loved. Best leave in conditioner was Kinky-Curly. Best gels was Kinky-Curly and Uncle Funky's Daughter Curl Magic. Other steers I ke because I can put them on damp hair Not Your Daughter Curl foam and Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie. I never do twist because my hair will Curl. Now I am allergic to fragrance and only use fragrance free products. The best ones are: Seen shampoo; conditioners I like Briogeo, Jessicurl, and Frize-Frize; styles I like Frize-Frize (cream and gel which leaves my hair so soft), Urbanbella's gel, and Quia creme (is the only one I can put on damp hair). I love my hair. I do not cry about it because I know what ingredients work which is so imperative with natural hair.

As a person with type 4 hair (bare in mind I have high porosity, thick hair) , I do like 80% finger detangling and 20% Felicia Leatherwood brush. I find that this works best for me !
@kreyol5393 жыл бұрын
Keeping it simple is where its at! It can be relatively easy. Im type 4 (my hair looks pretty much exactly like natural reign’s), don’t pre-poo, Ive only worn wash n gos since the time I big chopped to 4 inches of hair almost 3 years ago, and my hair is already slightly longer than armpit length. Its also dense and low porosity. I consistently Cleanse every week (no co-washing, just shampoo) condition, and style (1 leave in and 1 gel) only. I also see my stylist every 3 to 5 months for a trim and to maintain my shape. Thats it, thats all for me!

THANK YOU. The struggle has been real trying to figure out how to style my hair which is between type 3 and 4. I tried some of these tips and just had one of my best wash and go’s ever! The one that worked for me the most was applying my products in the shower on soaking wet hair. It was a game changer for sure.
@lenaedyse96343 жыл бұрын
I use coconut oil as a prepoo the night before I wash my hair. Then I wash my hair, rinse with water, then add apple cider vinegar with water to my scalp, leave it in for a few minutes then rinse it out, deep condition for 30 minutes, rinse out and then Banta knot. I like to squeeze out any excess water because I do not use a towel to dry my hair. I add leave in and then mousse. I detangle with my fingers and a wide tooth comb. Then I put my hair in 8 plats, then leave it for in until a day before my next wash day. This process can take me about 3 to 5 hours.....5 hours if I get distracted.
@leijaira28303 жыл бұрын
I never really considered that "pre-pooing" but that is what it is. I always moisturize my hair with some kind of conditioner or hair milk the day before wash day and put it in a loose bun. It makes the wash day steps a lot easier to deal with. We definitely take the same amount of time though lol. What mouse do you use?

@TosinAfolabi4233 жыл бұрын
The only way I refresh is if my hair was in a pineapple overnight, I spray a little bit of warm water and a fresher product then fluff it out to get back in shape for wash and go look. I only do this to the back and maybe sides of my hair where if I loose curl definition won’t be so obvious Which is my it’s best to put my hair in pineapple for bed.

Plus, spoiler alert, there are some 4 & 3 crossover tips when it comes to hi-po, density, & strand size, but honestly it is just liberating across all textures to let go of battles with/against frizz, shrinkage, definition, shininess, consumerism, etc., & just celebrate the uniqueness of each person & the beauty of our collective community. I agree with the detangling of the hair with conditioner or dc before shampooing 1)because of what they mentioned of the tangles and the shampoo, and 2) because you can’t get it super clean if your hair is very tangled, so you want to be able to get in there and clean your scalp well so detangling first helps. Also I died with that montage at the end of type 4 hair!! THE VOLUME!!! So beautiful!!

🤩 Such a great video!! Appreciate how you really try to help everyone with their curls. I thought I had 3c hair until it started growing & it’s 3c/4a. I might try the detangle before shampooing & then end with a deep conditioner, just to get rid of all the shed hair before washing.

I have thin hair, probably 3c/4a and it makes perfect coils..like little springs. I never scrunch and hate diffusing my hair. Air dry is the way to go, it shrinks but not as much. I use a lot of water on wash days with a cream leave-in (Blueberry bliss) and the matching gel to finish for my wash and go. Never twisted my hair because I'm super, super lazy. On wash day I use a wide tooth comb then a smaller tooth comb to detangle, again super lazy, but because I don't normally shed I like to get the hair we normally shed out. Also, I want you to know you were one of the first people I found when I was thinking of starting my journey. Thank you for your wonderful videos they have really made my journey much easier! 💜💜💜

I'm not sure of my curl pattern yet. I think it doesn't reach type 4, but it is definitely curly-er than the type 3C (I think) still I do a lot of the tips you've shared to us and work, like: prepoo with a mask, sections, my hair never gets touched by a towel and have to re-wet once out of the shower, sometimes I do twist outs and never really refresh (it takes too long to get my hair damp, it will be easier to just fully wet it in the shower). I haven't thought on following type 4 influencers, I might have to look into that. Thank you for the recommendations!

I have type 2, 3, and 4. It's also high porosity and color treated with blonde highlights. I was a product junkie. I found Curlsmith scalp line and Pattern Beauty (gel). I'm good at last! I pre poo with any conditioner mixed with castor or olive oil on my dry ends overnight. I do like twist outs because my hair is out of my face for a week. A bun if I will be in hot weather. I go for a wash and go, but eventually end up twisting my hair because it takes too long to air dry. I use Curlsmith oil in cream or air dry cream as a leave in. I use Pattern Beauty or Extreme gel as my styler. I use olive oil to seal everything in if I need it. My top three deep conditioners are Briogio, TGIN with honey, Mane Choice Egyptian, Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair deep conditioner if I need it or Curlsmith bonder. @6:30 Truthfully my shower routine doesn't last too long anymore, when it used to take hours. I don't use Instagram anymore so I couldn't put my input in. But basically my hair used to take hours too. Like two or three hours in the shower. Hop out, deep condition, hop back in rinse. Four hours. My hands were not strong enough to be lifted all the time!l, and hell yeah I used to cry! My final straw was nearly passing out from the heat and bending over all the time🥴 I used to do that thing where I unravel every section to shampoo and condition, retwist, then unravel again to rinse. With my big head if hair this took up MOST of the time. Edit: Basically what was mentioned at @11:35, but for the whole routine. So what to do I do? I shampoo, rinse, condition, rinse, deep condition, rinse. While still in braids. Bam, it takes me at MOST an hour in the shower now. At first I thought it wouldn't work bc I was think what if I still have dirt in my hair? What if my hair tangles? What if I don't wash everything out? None of that happened. The trick? Detangle/pre poo (like the video said) before washing, leave the braids loose enough where the water and suds can run freely through it, take your time while washing--don't be afraid to rub the products in their and don't be too conservative with the water, and finally be gently with your hair after you get out! Squeeze the excess water out of your braids first, then gently take down your braids for proper drying and product placement (or don't, whatever. Fyi sometimes hair takes longer to dry if you keep the braids in. Ask me how I know lol) *Of course everyone's hair is different and this probably wouldn't work outbfor most people. I just wanted to share my thoughts as someone who has literally cried in the shower over my wash routine. Worth a shot tho, the worse that can happen is that you have to jump back in the shower to properly wash your hair and spend some more time detangling. Oh and yes I'n Type 4. 4b/c to be exact.

Hi Bianca, I have one more pre-poo recommendation: Nature's Little Secret Fenugreek Detangling Pre Poo. It has become one of my favorites. Also the Mane Choice's Heavenly Halo collection has a nice Pre Poo. The Mane Choice also has several multi-use products in other collections that serve as leave-ins, pre poos, and rinse out conditioners (Alpha, Exotic Cool-Aid, & Tropical Moringa lines). Favorite shampoos: Soultanicals Sheyurvedic and Rice Butta Shampoos, Mane Choice Kiwi Guava, Alikay Natural's Moisturiziing Black Soap & Caribbean Coconut Shampoos, and Earthborn Organics Aloe Curl Cleanser. I also like using clay washes from Soultanicals and Chocolate Kinks and Kurls. Favorite deep conditioners: Alikay Natural's Honey and Sage, Miche Beauty Strengthen DC, Soultanicals Ayurvedic Fenugreek Mask Treatment, and Uniqurl Aloemint Moisturizing and Silkening DC, Curlsmith Doublecream Deep Quencher, and Hydro Crème Soothing Mask. Favorite gels: Uncle Funky's Daughter, Curlsmith In-Shower Style Fixer, Miche Beauty Sculpting Gel, and Earthborn Flaxseed and Chiaseed Nourishing Hair Gel. I still have brands in my stash that I will be using for the first time. I sit under a hooded dryer for my wash and goes and sometimes use a blow dryer. I also Style on wet hair and sometimes refresh my hair. I have thin hair so I am not heavy handed with my products.

I don't have the same hair pattern as you. I am definitely type 4 but you still helped me sooo much. Curlsmith products are definitely my favorite along with not your mothers. Although, I definitely appreciate the tips still learn some things I didn't think of.

I have type 4 hair, but I think you're right - the low porosity and the density are more important. So my routine isn't different from yours. Edit: Oh yeah... no to that scrunching stuff!

COME ON TYPE 4 representation!!!!! I loved the ending creators and music to match. I made the cut in a sea of beautiful women💚 Lot and lots of great shared tips and tricks. Doing my wash day in sections really makes a huge time difference. Denmin has a brush, the D38, that I keep hearing is the detangling truth. It is always sold out🤔🤔 I feel the same as you with the Curlsmith Primer, it was just okay but that African Pride🤯 Melanin Shampoo, leavein and Mulit-use oil🔥 Multi-use oil is also amazing on the skin right out of the shower Adwoa Beauty - ALL Oyin Handmade - ALL Sienna Naturals HAPI shampoo, conditioner and leave in Alikay Naturals Lemongrass leave in and gel EXCELLENT video!!

Lot of type 4 finger detangling. Cipriana Quann finger detangle. Naptural85 etc. Lot of type 4 diffuse. I really dont like creating a routine on hair type. Some type 4 share same routine as type 3.

I have 4a and 3c. I prefer twist outs but I don’t need to retwist every night. I prepoo every other shampoo with EVOO.
