Well, we 100%ed the first stage of Mario Sunshine pretty quickly.
I've always loved this game; I grew up with Super Mario Sunshine, and to say that it holds a special place in my heart would be an understatement. I've been waiting to play it here on the channel, but the time is now, so who's ready for some Super Mario Sunshine gameplay and commentary?!

Super Mario Sunshine is a 3D action-adventure platform game for the Nintendo GameCube. It is the ninth entry in the Super Mario series[2] and the second 3D platformer, following Super Mario 64 (1996). The game's principal mechanic centers around FLUDD, a rechargeable water-based tool that can be used to spray enemies and goop, hover or launch through the air, and dash to high speeds. Super Mario Sunshine introduced many recurring characters and bosses to the Super Mario franchise, including the aforementioned FLUDD, Toadsworth, Bowser Jr., Petey Piranha, Gooper Blooper, Piantas, Nokis, and Shadow Mario, Bowser Jr.'s alter ego. It is the second game in the Super Mario franchise to feature extensive voice acting, the first being Hotel Mario, making it the first and thus far the only 3D Super Mario game with said extensive voice acting. It also features an Italian aesthetic, with many of the locations in the game (including Isle Delfino itself, the game's overarching setting) having Italian names and sometimes referencing Italian culture.
A port of Super Mario Sunshine is bundled in with Super Mario 3D All-Stars for the Nintendo Switch, featuring the original game with upscaled graphics, released on September 18, 2020. This is the only game in the overall main Super Mario series that has never been available as a standalone digital download.

You were actually correct in your original memory LP! There are 10 shines per stage, plus the 100 coin shine. Every single secret course has a 2nd version where you have to collect red coins under a time limit, but you have FLUDD to help you. Those constitute the remaining 2 shines in Bianco!

So I know you're a few episodes ahead by this point but a couple of notes: The ability to get to the end of the game isn't tied to your shine count. Episode 7 of every stage is a Shadow Mario chase. Once you complete all of these, you gain access to Corona Mountain (on a side note, after you do the last chase mission, the Plaza floods, so make sure you have every shine you want before that or you'll have to collect them after the final boss). Sone nozzles are always available in certain missions, the way you unlock them pemanently is when Shadow Mario appears in the Plaza running away with them and you catch him. No idea why it makes you save when you pick them up though

don't say stuff before you're sure lp, every stage actually has 2 secret shine sprites. that's right! you're not done with this place yet lp! i used to always do pianta village first... i was a weird kid team rocket blasting of at the speed of light, surrender now or prepare to fight! the little piantas don't appear that often so instead of making a new model for them they just shrunk adult piantas lmao 100 coin missions are SOOO much better than in mario 64 for the simple reason that dead just doesn't happen nearly as often. i've died a lot in 100 coin stars in mario 64 and it was really frustrating, yet didn't happen at all in sunshine. and people say this game ISN'T a improvement. see you next episode LP!
