Let me take you all back in time to a few months ago when a song called "Step Back" was released. Does anyone remember how much criticism that song got (and frankly, still gets)? Now, pop on over to the Gaon chart and see where it is. At this moment, still #10 on the digital chart. So, how did a song that got so much backlash end up charting so well? It's because of the thing Kpop fans like to ignore: the silent majority. Those people who don't feel the need to publicly state their opinions on something. They just buy the songs/albums and move on with their lives. Look at the Gaon Album chart. Where is "AD MARE"? Right now, #4. Currently, "O.O" is #147 on the digital chart. And you may think "that's awful." But, consider this: it has moved up 82 spots in the week following the so-called "worst debut ever." How does a song that is "so bad" if you listen to Twitter and Reddit move up 82 spots? Again, the silent majority. And you can try to de-legitimatize these numbers/charts if you like, but the truth is that Gaon is one of the most used charting services in Kpop, along with Hanteo. No matter how many people want to publicly unload on a song, it can still be a success. Because at the end of the day, facts will always outweigh opinions.

people can buy a song or an album even if it's bad. Look at Sticker, Dun Dun Dance and O.O. They are maybe the worst songs i ever heard and mostly all of them chart well, sold well, etc.

@@nina-df3md exactly, most people weren’t against the song step back itself but more so the lyrics. I just genuinely don’t vibe with O.O as a whole song and I don’t think that it’s a strong debut. But anyone is up to their opinion.

Just to let u know the lyric video was mostly wrong, the lyrics correct but they kept highliting the wrong members for example when haewon was singing they put bae and when bae was singing they put jiwoo, and when sullyoon was singing they out haewon.
