Bibby Stockholm barge to close as asylum accommodation, vows Labour

The Home Office says it's ending the use of the Bibby Stockholm barge for housing migrants, as the new Government begins to overhaul the asylum system.

Ministers said extending the use of the barge for another year would cost more than twenty million pounds so the contract won't be renewed past January.
But it refused to rule out the use of hotels for asylum seekers currently housed there.

@dogkicker100 there’s a family three doors down from me, 4 bedroom, have built a massive shed/summer house down the bottom of the garden, god knows how many are living there, big vans turn up daily delivering god knows what, don’t see the same person twice, they cook the most foul smelling food on the patio that permeates the whole neighbour hood, old woman arrives and has surgery in the NHS stayed a few months, disappeared, nice house but look like a sh!those as towels hanging in the windows, junk everywhere, dirty, do not get me started on the music, but council do nothing !

Galway University in the Republic of Ireland applied to hire the Bibby Stockholm to house students but it was too big to fit into Galway docks. I have never understood the reasons of those against it. The people have a roof over their heads, food in their stomachs, are warm, and can come and go when they want to. If they were being housed on a cruise ship or Baltic ferry, as in the Netherlands, would they be complaining??
