It pains me to see them sick too. And especially because its their fault. Your common sense is spot on. I only wish these people had some. These people have absolutely no idea how to properly care for a macaque. They don't know what to feed, when to feed and how much to feed. First and foremost,all macaques, regardless of their age, should be given at a min. 8-10 feedings a day. A macaques digestive tract is vastly different from a humans. They can only digest small amounts at a time. They are foragers, like cattle and horses. In their natural environment horses are grazing, eating small amounts of grass and/or hay throughout the day. Monkeys do the same. Also, you'll see a lot of these monkeys with big round bellys. The abusers think they are gaining weight and being fed to much. So then they start giving them even less. This is a direct result of being malnourished and undernourished. This is commonly referred as Belly Bloat Syndrome. It is not fat or muscle gain. It is all edema/fluid retention. There are ingredients in that commercially processed milk that they are given, that their digestive system can not process. So it ferments, causing gas and fluid retention. They have no idea what the hell they are doing. These are not domesticated pets, they are wild animals. They're not human babies. Giving them pedialyte and/or sugary apple juices is causing the problem and/or is directly contributing to the problem. I've been a vet for 20+ yrs and it pains me to see their ignorance causing these monkeys to suffer.

It is too much and it's used too often: it ruins the skin and takes away that protective layer that defends it from the attack of pathogenic microorganisms. One can see that Bibi and Lala are loved and treated well, however, they are not human beings and one must respect their nature first and foremost (personally, I don't even understand the need to dress them, but that's another matter...)

Dr Jack Kruse, who consults for RFKJr and the US MAHA movement, says that the top two foods that cause gut damage and intestinal permeability are industrial seed oil = corn oil, vegetable oil, cooking oils that didn't exist prior to 1900 and gliadin = wheat. You probably cannot choose a worse food for an animal, including yourselves, than ramen noodles. The top two ingredients are the two gut busters = wheat and vegetable oils like soy, canola and cottonseed. Another common thing that causes gut damage are worms. Do you deworm your monkeys and any other pets you might have like dogs and cats? You should also periodically deworm yourself if you live in close contact with animals.
