Devotional: I find it interesting that there are over 2,000 verses in the Bible which speak on tithing, money, and possessions, which shows how important this subject is. I believe that before the Father can bless us with more, we first need to learn how to manage and steward what we have now, as well as overcome the temptations that come with having money. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says “God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” I think it’s fair to say that most of us have been tempted with money to do things out of God’s will or have incorrectly stewarded the money He’s provided to do what pleased us. It’s easy to think that what we see in our bank accounts is ours, but really it’s all His, along with everything else in this world (Exodus 19:5; Job 41:11). Understand that we are called to manage God’s money and possessions here on this earth, and as any manager that shows himself approved, we will receive more responsibility the better we are. God will not give us more responsibility if we cannot handle our current responsibilities. As a loving Father, He will not give us anything that will lead us to destruction, which unfortunately, money has the power to do. Reflect on your current situation and ask the Father what you can better do to manage what He has entrusted to you and how you can be a better steward on this earth. Prayer: Father God, thank you for providing us wisdom to properly manage and steward Your money and possessions in a way that pleases you. Show us the behaviors we need to change and help us do so.
