Circumcision was not “useless”. It was given as a covenant first with Abraham and the sign was that when a man looked at his penis he would be reminded of the covenant. Paul does say that the heart must be circumcised. So even as the basis for Paul’s metaphor, it still has value. Secondly, the Torah is God’s Law and is not subject to the temporal powers. I agree that Torah observance was more difficult under the Roman rule, but in no way so we subserviate God’s Law - which speak of Yeshua , to contemporary rule. Jesus is the telios of The Torah. Keeping of the Torah is how a faithful believer should live. Thirdly, sacrifice is not over because of Christ. As a foundation of faith, there remains NO sacrifice FOR SIN. Paul attending sacrificial ritual in Acts - post Christ’s death and resurrection. When Yeshua is seated in the earthly temple, only those who have kept the Torah will be able to offer sacrifices in WORSHIP. In Colossi, Paul combatted the misuse of the Torah in angel worship- not Torah observance, the only Greek word for Law- nomos is not even in verse 16. This concept is brought out in chapter 2.

Colossians 2:14-17 , " 14.Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15.And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16.Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: 17.Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. To understand Colossians 2:14-17 , you must go back to the law . NUMBERS 28-29 ( PLEASE READ IT ) . The Israelites were required to give daily meat , drink offerings and sacrifices daily ; on the new moon , holy day , and Sabbath days ; which came through the mediator Moses , under the priesthood of Leviticus ; which are the handwriting of ordinances as define in : Hebrews 9: 1-15 , " 1.Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. 2For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. 3And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 4Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; 5And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. 6Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. 7But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: 8The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: 9Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Jesus ended the sacrifices & oblations for sin as stated in Daniel 9:27. Daniel 9:27 , " 27.And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. A change in the mediators and priesthood , brings about a change in the sin sacrifice law of atonement ( Moses & Jesus ) . Hebrews 7:11-28 , " 11.If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13.For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. 20And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest: 21(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) 22By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. 28For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Numbers 28:1-4 , 6-9,11-17,19-20, 26-28 , " 1.And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season. 3And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. 4The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even; 6It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD. 7And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering. 8And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. 9And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof: 11And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot; 12And three tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one bullock; and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one ram; 13And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD. 14And their drink offerings shall be half an hin of wine unto a bullock, and the third part of an hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an hin unto a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year. 16.And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD. 17And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. 19But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without blemish: 20And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil: three tenth deals shall ye offer for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram; 26.Also in the day of the firstfruits, when ye bring a new meat offering unto the LORD, after your weeks be out, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: 27But ye shall offer the burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; two young bullocks, one ram, seven lambs of the first year; 28.And their meat offering of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto one bullock, two tenth deals unto one ram, Numbers 29:1-3,12-14,35-40 , " 1.And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you. 2And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish: 3And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram, 12.And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: 13And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish: 14And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenth deals to each ram of the two rams, 35.On the eighth day ye shall have a solemn assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein: 36But ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: one bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first year without blemish: 37Their meat offering and their drink offerings for the bullock, for the ram, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner: 38And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, and his meat offering, and his drink offering. 39These things ye shall do unto the LORD in your set feasts, beside your vows, and your freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your meat offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings. 40And Moses told the children of Israel according to all that the LORD commanded Moses. Paul was telling the believing Israelites and Gentiles , not to let the Israelites still under the sin sacrifice atonement of the animals & oblations , to judge them because they do not offer meat/drink/sacrifice offerings ; on daily , new moon , holy day , or Sabbath Days . The Sabbath days and Holy days continued ; only the offerings and sacrifices were discontinued until reinstated in the 1000 year reign of Christ ( EZEKIEL 45:17-25 ) . Colossians 2:17 , " 17.Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Ezekiel 45:17-25 , " 17.And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel. 18Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary: 19And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court. 20And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so shall ye reconcile the house. 21In the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten. 22And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bullock for a sin offering. 23And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to the LORD, seven bullocks and seven rams without blemish daily the seven days; and a kid of the goats daily for a sin offering. 24And he shall prepare a meat offering of an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and an hin of oil for an ephah. 25In the seventh month, in the fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the sin offering, according to the burnt offering, and according to the meat offering, and according to the oil. As peter said about some of Paul's writings and other scriptures : 2 PETER 3:15-16 , " 15.And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. @ Stepen Foster , 11.And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised ( circumcision of flesh/body for sin , or the law of animal sacrifice & oblations ) : that he might be the father of all them ( Gentiles ) that believe ( obey God ) , though they be not circumcised ( Gentiles not circumcision of flesh/body for sin , or law of animal sacrifice ) ; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12.And the father of circumcision ( Israelites under the law of animal sacrifice & oblations ) to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. 13.For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law ( law of animal sacrifice of works ) , but through the righteousness of faith ( repenting of your sins , then believing by obedience ; which is keeping the commandments of your mediator Jesus Christ ; which he received from the Father ) . 14.For if they which are of the law ( law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) be heirs, faith ( repentance and believing ) is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15Because the law ( law of animal sacrifice & works ) worketh wrath: for where no law is , there is no transgression . The apostle Paul explains this : ( Romans 5:13-14 , " For until the law sin was in the world : but sin is not imputed when there is no law . Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses , even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression , who is the figure of him that was to come " ) . What is sin ? Answer , 1 John3:4 , " 4.Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Paul stated that until the law ( what law ? ) , sin ; which is the transgression of the law of God was in the world ( sin came into the world when Adam transgressed against the law of God ) , but sin ; which is the transgression of the law of God is not imputed ( represents something undersirable as been done , caused , or possessed by someone ) when there is no law . This law is not the commandments/instructions of God ; which includes all the covenants , but a sin sacrifice law that came at the time of Moses ; the law of animal sacrifice of works ; which was not of faith . Romans 3:27-28 , " 27.Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law " ) , there is no transgression . 16.Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, Shalom !

@@messengerisrael3817 there is only one Law word in the English language. Paul uses law seven different ways in his writings. Based on your parenthetical comments, I would say you need to become aware of those seven uses of the work Law in his epistles. Shalom

In the beginning God created Adam. Adam was perfect and sin free in Gods sight. Because of Adam’s perfection, he was only required to obey one law. That singular law stated that he could not bring sin into the world by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil(Genesis 2:16-17). So basically all Adam had to do was to prevent sin from coming into the world. Up to this point in history Adam only had one law to follow not 613 laws that we now know of. It wasn’t until after the fall of Adam where mankind is required to follow additional laws. I must note that it is critical to understand which law we broke that brought us to the sinful state we are in. The bible says that the wages of sin is death(Romans 6:23). So when did Adam first sin? The first sin committed was Adam disobeying God’s commandment to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This was the law that Adam broke. The Greek word for ordinances in Colossians 2:14 is “dogma”. This word is also translated “decree”. I think that we can get a better understanding of Colossians 2:14 if we swap this word in for ordinances. If you go back to Genesis 3:14-19 you will see that God declared a series of “decrees” against the serpent, Eve, and Adam. These decrees state that Adam and Eve will live a hard life and then die for their sin against God. The handwriting of “decrees” that were against them were the ones spelled out in verse 16-19 of Genesis chapter 3. These are the decrees that are contrary to us that christ had to nail to the cross to redeem us to God. If Jesus didn’t nail these decrees to the cross, we would have to pay for that one sin in the garden with our lives. The controversy with Colossians 2:14 is that people don’t understand which law was broken that brought us to our sinful state. So people assume that it was the laws of Moses which were not even in existence at the time that Adam sinned. In Romans 5:13-14, Paul confirms that sin was in the world before the laws of Moses even existed. Paul also confirms that in the absence of the laws of Moses, Adam was still able to fall into sin. If Adams was not guilty of breaking the laws of Moses, then what law did he break? Paul tells us exactly which law Adam broke in Romans 5:14. So if it wasn’t the laws of Moses that were nailed to the cross with its feast days, dietary laws, clothing laws, and animal sacrifices, then all christians must acknowledge that they are still active today; just like Jesus said in Matthew 5:17-18. Shalom… #ReturnToTorah Colossians 2:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Genesis 2:16-17 King James Version (KJV) 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Romans 6:23 King James Version (KJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Genesis 3:14-19 King James Version (KJV) 14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Matthew 5:17-18 King James Version (KJV) 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Romans 5:12-15 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) 12 Sin came into the world because of what one man did. And with sin came death. So this is why all people must die-because all people have sinned. 13 Sin was in the world before the Law of Moses. But God does not consider people guilty of sin if there is no law. 14 But from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, everyone had to die. Adam died because he sinned by not obeying God’s command. But even those who did not sin that same way had to die. That one man, Adam, can be compared to Christ, the one who was coming in the future. 15 But God’s free gift is not like Adam’s sin. Many people died because of the sin of that one man. But the grace that people received from God was much greater. Many received God’s gift of life by the grace of this other man, Jesus Christ.
