There are 20,000-30,000 construction workers in Israel helping with the Port Haifa and Port Ashdod as well as Mt. Carmel Tunnel, as verse 10 prophecies. Even Thai agricultural workers in Israel is a fulfilment of prophecy elsewhere in Isaiah. Glad to see God in the early Zionists which Ezekiel 36 prophecies. Actually Moses already prophecies in Leviticus 26 that God shall bring His people back to the land. Its amazing to see current Aliyah fulfilling the prophecies of the physical and spiritual restoration of Israel and the ingathering of Gentiles to be grafted onto the good Olive Tree. Praise the God of Israel.

Ian, I loved the probe of the new Jerusalem and the banter of what's happening presently. Isn't it like God in his loving care to gradually build momentum into a crescendo. I was deeply touched by end note; my favorite hymn of Zion was also a favorite of my grandmother who raised me. " we are marching to Zion, beautiful beautiful Zion. We are marching upwards to Zion that beautiful city of God." About the final words, I think our youths have missed just so much of what and why Jerusalem and Zion are precious to all the nations of the world.

This gets into what is Israel and what is the true Israel. I am still pondering this, reference Romans 9:8.

8:33 - Correct, the first question to ask yourself is - is Isaiah 60 referring to Israel (the Jews) or some other nation? Because nowhere in the chapter says it is Israel (the Jews). It refers to “the Islands” In verse 9 of KJV (most often neglected by preachers). If you will notice the subject In the progression of the chapters of Isaiah for example starting from Chapter 41:1 (also 49:1 etc. KJV not NKJV) where Isaiah talks about “the Islands” and then In verse 8, he called it Israel. Notice that Israel here - the servant have two parts: “Jacob” (whom God have chosen) and the “Seed of Abraham”. We know that the “Seed of Abraham” In Gal 3:29 refers to the Christians and therefore, Israel In this context are not the Jews. Then, what about “Jacob” (whom God have chosen)? If you look at Matthew 21:43 - Jesus said to the Jews - the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Therefore, “Jacob” here is not the Jews. The Jews were cutoff and new branches were grafted In (Romans 11). Israel is likened to a bride but In Isaiah 50:1 and Jeremiah 3:8 - God made a divorce with her. Another point is that Israel In Middle east is not composed of Islands. The “Islands” is not even a metaphor but an actual Islands with inhabitants (Isaiah 42:10). There are more proof, but based on these few presented here, we can say there are two Israels In the Bible. The old Israel and the new Israel also called “the Islands”. Just like there are two covenants: the Old covenant and the new covenant. Many preachers are making mistake on this (even the Jews) thinking that whenever Israel is mentioned In the scriptures it refers to the Jews. We should rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

The prophet Isaiah didn't speak out or say prohecised in a vacuum. The book falls under prophetical writings doesn't mean it came out of vaccum. No doubt the prophet was effected by the events of his time, so is his message. Therefore, the text is about israel, not any other nation or people. Has it been fulfilled? I don't think so. Today's preachers may like to imply this prophetic message to Christians, it is ok, but it was for specific audience, the Jews of that time primarily

Isaiah 60:1-2 identifies a nation with divine appointment to arise and shine. It is a Christian nation because light is always associated with God. It also reveal its geographic location being a light In the midst of darkness. Darkness are the people means the surrounding nations are pagans. There are only two nations that have similar situation: Israel In the Middle East surrounded by Muslim countries and the Philippine Islands surrounded by Muslims, Buddhist, Hindu, Shinto..etc. Philippines fits better the description because it is a group of Islands as described In verse 9 of KJV.
