I had stopped reading the Bible for two months! I was going through Exodus and life happened. Back on track because I realize I need God’s word daily to sustain me. Thanks for this channel.

This chapter reminded me that God gives and he can also take away. Egypt was so powerful in the period of Joseph even to the point where it was the storehouse for the surrounding nations and the world during the time of famine. Here we see Egpyt being reduced to nothing because of the reluctance to heed the word of God. Sometimes it may seem that someone or something is so powerful, in some cases even in the evil that they do here is a reminder that God is sovereign! And indeed there is a time for everything as stated in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

I love how every time, Moses came with a warning: Thus said The LORD, let my people go so that they may serve me

I love how Moses' character is being developed as the story progresses. Remember when he was called by The Burning Bush? He would reason out that he's not qualified yet here he is - an audience with the highest official of Egypt.

I watching Pastor Greg Laurie on KZbin and I remember he stated that God hardened Pharaoh's heart because God strengthens you in the decision you make. Pharaoh had multiple chances, but kept hardening his heart so God hardened his heart. If he repented and turned away then God would un-harden his heart. What do you think about this statement?
@BibleBujo4 жыл бұрын
Hmm that'sinteresting to think about. I think that God hardened Pharaoh's heart to deal harshly with the Egyptians as stated in Exodus chapter 10. however I do think that this is a great way to look at it as well! Thanks for watching!

Each chapter ends with the Lord hardening Pharaoh's heart. Could he have made a different choice if it was the will of God that Pharaoh would not budge? Also, I feel God's intent could have been to have Moses rely on his strength for the future because he was not so confident in the beginning of this journey. I think Moses is being prepared for the future. BTW I'm new to the Bible so any insight will help and I am so happy to be on the book of Exodus! I want to continue to learn.

That's a great question, I am unsure of the answer though!

At first, the chapters end with “and Pharaohs heart was hardened”, which indicates this was Pharoah hardening his heart all on his own and blatantly turning away from God. It was only after the plague of livestock that it indicates God was the one hardening Pharoahs heart. So I interpret it as this: God is a God of mercy and forgiveness. Though he knew Pharoah wouldn’t give in, God chose to give him chance after chance and didn’t wipe him off the planet like God had reminded Pharoah he was very capable of doing. After Pharoah repeteadly turned away from God, God made sure that his heart stayed hard now so that he can continue all his signs and prove the he is our one true and almighty God and for the Israelites to pass down to their children and grandchildren and eventually into our hearts today. ❤️ @cycy818

The book of Exodus truly defines the word "PRIDE" as the pharaoh (Rameses) challenged the God of Israel by not letting the Hebrews go with Moses who was the Prince of Egypt and became a follower of God. His pride pulled him down because of the bad things which God allowed to happen to Egypt because of his very hard heart. It is so clear that no one can ever challenge or belittle God because you will never ever want the punishment, his revenge for those who disobey the God of Israel. Praise the Lord that he made the bible in order for us to see how powerful he is and how just God is to all people.

I can't remember where I heard this but I heard that each plague God put on Egypt was a mockery of different gods the Egyptians believed in.

Yes! That is true every plague represented a god the Egyptians worshipped, so God was mocking their fake gods lol

I wish somebody who knew about this would explain more. What were those gods the Egyptians worshipped and how were they connected to the references to them in the plagues. Pretty interesting.
@Lmay17873 жыл бұрын
@@redfuse8369 I'm not sure on all of them but I remember reading that Osiris was a god of the cycles of the Nile and so the blood in the Nile meant that they wouldn't not have a fruitful harvest. Seth was the god of storms and this explains the dust storms. Apopis is the snake god and may be connected to the snakes eating the other snakes. Hathor was the goddess of death and may be why the firstborn was killed. I don't know the whole linkages but I found it an interesting theory as well.

I think Pharaoh at this point was just wanting Moses to settle for something that he ( Pharaoh) wanted rather than what God wanted.

Pharaoh's heart was hardened because he wanted it that way. God worked with what Pharoah put forth from his heart. My 10 yr old daughter loves your nails! She's been watching with me as of late.
