God gave me a dream one time about what it is to witness to someone. It was in parable form. In the dream, there was a christmas tree that was being taken down. Christmas was over and it was going to be burned. I came to Him and saw that he was in tears. I asked why. He said that one of his precious ornaments he had made and loved refused to leave the tree. I said "maybe I can talk to it" God looked so hopeful. He said "Maybe it will listen to you. It won't listen to me anymore." I went to the ornament and said "You've gotta leave the tree! Its going to be burned! Don't you know that??!" And it still refused to let go of it's branch. But then I tried again, "Look, God made you special. He loves you with every fiber of his being. He is torn up about the idea of losing you. Please let go of the tree." When I said this, the ornament suddenly became repentant of its stubbornness and it let go. I pulled it off the branch and handed it to God. God wept tears of joy when I passed it over to him. He held the ornament to his heart like it was a human child. I can never tell this dream without crying. Preach God's love in this way. Warn people but do it like I did in my dream. The only thing the ornament would listen to was hearing the truth about the heart of the father towards it. Warning it of its fiery doom did nothing.

This story isn't just sad, it is horrifying to anyone who is an unbeliever. As a prodigal son, I can assure you that living a Christlike life is far more fulfilling and satisfying than a life of empty fornication, alcohol, and too many other sins to mention. Does sin feel good? Yes, but only for a short time. Do not let God give you over to a reprobate mind. Also, remember that in Philippians 2:12, "fear & trembling" means the utmost respect and reverence. The Gospel (i.e. how to be saved) is found in 1 Cor. 15:1-4. If you believe that, and do not believe in vain, you are saved!

@@tomdower6668 I just stuck this comment on another part of this thread, and will at least share my earnest and well-thought-out confusion about the very thing you're asking about. 😆 You'll see what I mean. ______ I once heard a really confusing sermon in my aunt's Catholic parish, and the confusing part actually kind of cracks me up. I've pondered the story for years, and still can't figure out what the priest's intention was, although I know what I took away from it. One day, a poor monk found his habit of prayer to have been eaten by rats, and had to beg for a new one from the nearby townsfolk. Only a short while later, that also was eaten by rats. Again and again, he found himself begging for replacement habits due to the same recurring problem. "Enough," he thought, and took in a stray cat to catch the rats for him. The rats alone could not sustain the cat, so he somehow got a cow as well, so that the cat could also have milk to drink. The cow, also, required feeding, and so somehow the monk procured a plot of land so that the cow could graze. The chores of caring for his animals were becoming too much for one person, leaving him no time at all to even pray, and so eventually the monk decided to take a wife to help manage the growing estate. In time, their family business had made them the wealthiest folks in town. Then, however, the local bishop arrived for a visit. The bishop was shocked, but the man explained that there was no other way to stop the rats from eating his habit of prayer. You see, I don't understand-was this story a call to renounce ALL worldly possessions and just deal with the shirts on our backs getting eaten by disease infested rats AT OTHERS' PERPETUAL EXPENSE, or instead a call to live "IN the world, but not OF the world" by shouldering our material duties to each other in mutually beneficial cooperation, and just letting God worry about our increase by being neither desirous of it, NOR AFRAID of what may turn out to have been a gift destined for some specific purpose-which bad spending decisions out-of-touch with God's values would have negated, anyway, and left us empty-handed when the time came for whatever purpose God had in mind from the start. 🤔 Like, imagine if Joseph HADN'T stored up grain, in times of plenty, for the time of famine that God warned him about. Joseph listened, and despite the wealth of Egypt at his fingertips, handled it prudently and selflessly, and pleased the Lord. 🤔 Not that things worked out so well with the Egyptians, after all. 😱
@eutytoalba7 ай бұрын
I'm Catholic myself and am inclined to the monk's point I view here.... I really don't know what the priest who told this story right from the pulpit had in mind, because I just automatically expect funky Socialist twists on everything: twists like the secular-criminalization of wealth on basic principle, and even taking personal PRIDE in being COMPETITIVELY "poorer than thou". 🤔 Which, IMO, is TOTALLY like wailing in the streets for attention while you're fasting SUPPOSEDLY to honor the Lord. 🤔 Anyways, if the monk's decisions (which were ultimately mutually beneficial to God's other children in the village, rich and poor alike) are to be seen as correct even if surprising, then I think it explains at least one reason why God was so angry about King David taking a census. By not taking a census, then the growth of the kingdom, and its wealth, and its human potential, was for God alone to truly know and ultimately plan for; whereas taking censuses would be the kind of thing done in preparation for war: you need to know every little tool, resource, and human being that is at your disposal-in preparation to reap by conquest and add to it all, faster than the Lord has allotted by honest progression. 🤔

When the video stopped st 2:23, it immediately reminded me of atheist debates in which they claimed that if God himself would come down from the sky, or if they personally witnessed a supernatural miracle, they "would believe." But, this story reinforces the fact that it is highly unlikely....that they are so blinded by their own naturalistic/materialistic views that in spite of their access to the Bible, and in apite of potentially witnessing something supernatural, we all know they (most likely) wouldn't change their opinion....(but we should ALWAYS still pray for them) Jesus also mentions in Matthew 11:25-30, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes......." On a side note, one atheist, Richard Dawkins, said that "IF" God were to come down from heaven and prove his own existence to him, HE WOULD PROBABLY THINK HE WAS HALLUCINATING!!! It really is a sad story and we have to pray to God that we have the courage and strength to tell non-believers the Good News of Jesus (I'm speaking to myself as well because i have non-believers in my own family)

But throughout the books and stories in scripture, you begin to understand that God is just and their are many examples given as to how that is. God gives everyone the same opportunities to find him. "Seek and you shall find". Many people (especially non-believers) take this too literal. Because God doesn't always answer when we demand it, like a genie. God may not always answer because he knows in your heart you are not prepared to hear the real answers he will have for you. Fear of God is the initiative to wisdom. As you fear God, he learns that in your heart you are aware of consequence. When you realize and deeply understand this, he then talks to you further but reminds you that now that he has your full attention he will comfort you in telling you that laying your trust in him will be the best decision you make. He will guard you and guide you and over your life time you will begin to see what he meant for you all along. That is why we live for so many years because it takes a long run before you can see the finish line. The road to God will only reach faster the more you commit. If you try to take shortcuts , you may but when you do you become lost again and you wouldnt find God in the first place if you werent lost before, even once. It takes courage to admit your wrongs, and to admit your ways of living but God knows it already. He waits for those to call upon him with all their hearts and it is promised that he will touch your soul and it is a feeling like no other. It is not an easy, nothing is. But the end goal is to be with our creator. It is completely worth it and as how he intended it to be. I advise you to continue to open your mind and heart to God and he will answer. The one thing this video gets incorrect, or at least doesn't describe accurately, is Heaven being final... At least the Heaven that people typically think of. @@mlady8137 Rev. 21:1-4 mentions how a new heaven and new earth will be created when Jesus returns. Which is where His people will reside with Him for eternity. Revelation makes it sound like a place where heaven has merged with a new earth, so that there is no separation between the two. So it stands to reason that the Heaven God resides in before Jesus returns is not the Heaven where human souls will spend eternity. There's a lot more to it of course. You could spend hours looking into it, like you can with anything in the Bible. That's the basic gist of it though.

I've been reading my bible recently, not as much as I should, but it's a start. I don't believe in hell personally. God has an everlasting and indescribable love for everyone in this world. Think of the people who love you to the moon and back, God loves you infinitely more. The Roman Catholic Church had free access to the Bible when the common man did not. Time went by and the Church became more and more corrupt, offering indulgences and wanting more and more power. There is no doubt that the Bible has been tampered with constantly in the millennia since. I believe personally that the Bible previously had a much more innocent representation of hell if it had one at all. In fact, how much in the Bible is true? How much in the Bible is not God's creation, but ourselves? How much in the Bible is written as a story or parable, not meant to be taken so literally, but to teach a lesson? Jesus spoke in parables all the time, so why should the Bible be any different?? Despite all that was said, and if hell does or does not exist, why should it matter? God doesn't want people to seek him out in fear of eternal punishment, but wants you to come to him in love. Sorry for the super long rant. Thank you to the people that read all of this. God Bless.

We have manuscripts from the second and third century of the new testament which are now the basis of all bible translations. Either the tampering was very early, or it did not happen. The Roman Catholic Church also for a long time hasn't been the only institution keeping bibles, the church of the east has used them and is independent from the rest of Christianity since 410 ad, well before indulgences were ever a thing.

In the same way, most criminals are in jail because they choose a life of crime. Christianity is the path to Heaven, but Jesus, who is all Just, would never send a person there who doesn't deserve to be there. Also, someone who calls themself a Christian who follows the path of the devil is acting immoral. Yes, we were born with original sin and are not perfect. However, if you have the intention to follow Satan and go to church and call yourself a Christian, God can look into your heart to see your true intentions.

I hope you've grown from that :-) "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, for fear has to do with torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love." How come none of the people Jesus resurrected talked about the afterlife? In fact, he said they were “sleeping”. If there were in heaven, why would he bring them back to earth just to die again and if they were in a fiery hell wouldn’t they have thanked Jesus for bringing them out of hell? 3.There were people that sacrificed people including children to their gods by burning them alive. About this god said this is something that never came into his heart. 4. Ecclesiastes 9 explains that when you are dead you are unconscious. It is a state of inactivity. 5. Could this story Jesus gave be just that?… a story… to drive home a point? Something figurative? - Just some points to think about. Do what you will with this information.

There have been endless interpretations of this parable, and I don't think it's fair to conclude with a definitive answer this easily, and especially not when the conclusion is so dark.. I think this parable, like so many of the others, is a criticism of the pharisees. Jesus might be saying: "So you Pharisees believe in a literal heaven and hell for eternity. Well, if people are to be judged by their heart, who would go to this hell? YOU guys." Also, some theorize that Lazarus in this parable is Jesus himself, and that the dogs licking him is a reference to gentiles who will embrace him. Guys this is a parable. It was a story with a hidden meaning. Parables are not to be taken literally. This parable doesnt speak of a literal hell and heaven . Jesus already said that at the end, those that were doomed were meant to be destroyed. Cease to exist. Remember the verse that says “But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Jesus associated hell with destruction. Hell is an event of destruction. Not a place to torment conscious dead people . If you read the entire chapter, before Jesus presented this parable, he was in argument with the Pharisees. Jesus pointed out that they were fixated at accumulating wealth while hypocritically appearing good to other people. They pretended to be righteous but internally, they are full of greed. The context of the parable was not about death or what happens after death. The context was the danger of greed and hypocrisy. . Jesus used the parable of Lazarus and the rich man to warn of the pitfalls and dangers of living a life driven by greed and a lack of love for others.

I always find it rather odd why Hell is eternal? shouldn’t the rich man only serve the suffering of how long Lazarus suffered, I feel like that’s more ‘Balanced’. Why would he burn for eternity for Lazarus to maybe of suffered for 30-40 years? Although the rich man didn’t help Lazarus I don’t think an eternity of punishment is exactly correct in my opinion. He should maybe be punished for 40 years like Lazarus did in his time on earth. God has a strange way of loving us 🤷♂️

Yet, what is this hell doing for satan and the angels? They aren't being tortured. They run this planet with evil and our creator allows it. If our creator is so almighty and can do anything, why doesn't it take away hell and forgive all these evil beings since it's so loving? Everybody can enjoy heaven. Nah, to me, this creator seems most evil to me, more evil than satan. Hell for eternity is the most evil thing created known to human existence.

The point is that no one is a good person. We are all sinners, who deserve hell. The love of God is shown in that he paid the penalty for our sin with Jesus on the cross. God’s justice was satisfied with Jesus death. He made an escape for us. He is loving and He is good. He’s also perfect and just and cannot tolerate sin to any degree. So hell is just for those who do not choose the sacrifice of Jesus to pay for their sins. This is serious stuff and you need to make the right choice.

If God didn’t give us free will we would be forced to worship him like it or not but God give us free well to let us choose to love him and follow him. Also if God allows us to heaven with our sins, heaven would be corrupted and won’t be holy, he doesn’t go back on his word and can’t lie. The life we live in right now it’s just a short life but the afterlife is forever. One day God will create a new earth and new heaven for us to live and enjoy. About hell, it was supposed to be for Satan and his Angels not for us, but the act of the snake between Adam and Eve brought us to that. if it wasn’t for Jesus dying on the cross for us it would be very hard for us to get to heaven because he’s the one that takes our sins and burdens. "if people didn't believe to Moses and the prophets wouldn't believe someone that returned from the death either, he was referring to Jesus." Yes that was referring to Jesus. But I will add something else here which is not correctly understood this "story" of Lazarus and the rich man it was not something that actually happend in the past, it is actually just a parable. When people die, in death you are not aware of anything at all, you have no consciousness at all, you just sleep the very deep sleep of death. A death person can't praise God, can't sing to Him out o joy, they don't love, they don't hate, they don't do anything, they can't see, they can't hear, they can't move, have no consciousness at all, they are like they never existed before. The only trace of their existance is their remains (dead body) and the memory of loved ones that still live, they are not in heaven, not yet at least. Was Lazarus in heaven before Jesus resurrected him ? No, he was sleeping in the earth, the deep sleep of death, he was not in heaven, how sad would had being Lazarus if Jesus would had summoned him from heaven back to earth again ... For a dead person the sensation that it's instant is because they sleep an extremely deep sleep of death, and so, even if thousands of years had passed since they died, their mind he will perceive it as something instant, they are not aware that such long time passed, but is like one or two seconds when they will be resurrected by Jesus at the second coming. The humans don't have a spirit or soul after they die which allows them to maintain their consciousness. The soul is the result of God creating the physical body out of the dust of the earth, shape it and then giving to this body the breath of life, these two make a living soul, thus death is the reversed process of this. This subject needs a lot of study and examination in the Bible, I can't describe in this comment section all this and I was already too long. Search on youtube this subject of death, using the Bible, study. Even the souls from under the altar in the book of revelations are still as a figure of speach, it is not the souls that speak literally but it is the justice of God, as explained in the same way by the blood of Abel who cried out to God to be avenged. Can blood literally cry out from the ground to God and demand vengeance? And why did the blood of Abel and not Abel cry out? Because it is a still form of God's expression to show that his justice demands revenge. And one more thing is that there is no eternal hell, so like non-stop, non-stop, never ends, and people burning in hell like that, never ending of burning in hell, agonny. NO, just think how cruel is to punish one man, just like that in hell, for his 70 or 90 years of a life of sin, like for ever. Hell will only be unleashed when satan will attack with his angels and all people that refused God and did not believed in Jesus, they will attack the Holly City - New Jerusalem at the end, when they will do that, then God will rain the fire of hell uppon them at that time and they will burn for ever in the sence that this fire will not go out until it will consume everything that is consuming, after that will go out but untill then nothing can extinguish it, it will only go out by it self. Please see the following Bible verses for the subject on how death is for humans: Psalm 6:5 ; John 11:9-14 ; Genesis 2:7-11 and there are many other examples of other verses, just look for it, read the Bible yourself and pray to God. God bless you all

Love the channel. Going a level deeper - this isn’t a parable or made up story. It’s very clear in scripture that Jesus is talking about an actual event that happened. Given this man’s wealth, it’s entirely possible the people knew of him or knew him from local history.

Question The only people in heaven from my understanding are Jesus, Elijah, Moses, possibly the saints who were resurrected with Jesus and maybe Enoch, does this not mean in order to be in heaven you need to be alive? ( hence the resurrection of the righteous during the second coming) Also Aren’t the parables of Jesus, stories used to convey moral or spiritual lessons? And therefore not literal? Also also I don’t recall a place in the bible where the wicked humans will burn for eternity, yes there’s a lake of fire but no man can withstand that for eternity, and an eternity in Gods absence isn’t torcher and pain it’s void and darkness, wouldn’t it be more plausible for life after death for the unrighteous and non-believing to be non existent? hell is referred to as a place prepared for Satan and the fallen angels not mankind? How could a God of love allow for his own creation (by the billions) to burn in eternal… ETERNAL torment? I mean no disrespect :)

here's my train of thought with the letting the people go to hell bit: we all would have gone to hell in the first place if not for God having mercy on us who believe. He is the one who created us so He is allowed to return us to the place we were supposed to be as we, by nature, would have rejected Him. I know the old testament can be pretty crazy with all that "You must purge the evil from among you" stuff and it seems unfair but really its unfair that we even get to go to Heaven in the first place.

These stories of Jesus were metaphorical, abraham's bosom isn't a literal place. These stories were to emphasize that in separation of God, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Whereas in salvation, Lazarus is finally done with suffering. There is an actual biblical argument for annihilationism in the lake of fire that makes sense. Its as if God is uncreating us if we deny his salvation for us. This story told us not to be selfish and trust in GOd, not our material wealth. To give to those who need and delight in others happiness is the way of God, not to hoard our wealth. He even asked abraham to make Lazarus do the work to give him water. He didnt even try to repent or do the work himself.

I'm hoping this reply will be able to make it through here. Let me know if it does. 1) The moral law is useful and evolved. Ask ants, bees, mole rats, et cetera. 2) Scripture is, according to Pew Research, much better argued with a non-believer. "Who Knows What About Religion"- Atheists have the highest % of correct answers. 3) Nebuchadnezzar is a specific dude, and he lived, and stopped doing that, at specific times. It's not ambiguous. It did not happen, definitively. Not to Tyre, nor to Egypt. 4) Daniel is also not successful. It's a prophecy that culminates in the End of Days, which follows after the expiry of Onias the Third (an anointed one, who was cut off, such that "the kingdom was seized by intrigue"). It gives 4 kingdoms, gives us details about those kingdoms so we can identify them, and tells us that after the fourth, there will be Armageddon. And never was there Armageddon. 5) My methods are worldview--agnostic and independently valid. We're not talking about properly basic belief. We're talking about epistemology.
