I memorized the whole of Hebrews some time ago-- and it gave me so much power . I was on fire . Now I am taking it up again and in a short while have done Psalms 18-19-20-21-22 and Isaiah 53. I am nearly 81 so you are never too old. I find I need to do this since in cursory reading I cannot remember anything. I really liked this interview. I've been memorizing seriously since 1988 after a fellow named Dick Mills commited me to 2 years of bible memorization. Well 35 years later I'm still memorizing! (with some breaks here and there). Currently I'm mainly memorizing from Psalms, Isaiah, Matthew, Luke, 1 & 2 Corinthians (I've completed the rest of the New Testament). I memorize from the KJV - as Susan mentioned there is a cadence to it so it is actually easier to memorize from in my opinion - I'm actually going back over verses I memorized in other translations and re-memorizing them in the KJV. The youtube channel (Truth Is Christ) has some amazing facts about the KJV. I've heard that many Chinese Christian teenagers have memorized the entire new testament - neat! I was raised in a church that encouraged Bible memorization in Vacation Bible School and so I’ve memorized individual scriptures but now I am convicted to memorize books in the Bible. I’ve memorized a couple of Pslams and I want to memorize Psalm 95 and the Beatitudes. Then I want to memorize the book of John. I recite the Psalms that I have memorized on a daily basis. My question for Susan who has memorized the entire New Testament. How to you review that? I heard her say she listens to her recording but surely she also recites the entire books, or does she? Maybe she just listens to herself. Would she possibly recite a chapter every day to work her way through one book then go to the next book and recite a chapter a day? And would she do this as she is memorizing new verses. That is what I see would be and will be best for me. I have started memorizing the Beatitudes but I wonder if I should just begin with chapter 1 in Matthew and work my way through the beatitudes to the end of the book. It is very spiritually rewarding to memorize scripture and like Susan, I’m gaining new understanding and insight through memorizing and reciting scripture. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve watched your other ones. So I hope to see more. This is very inspirational. I hope you continue to make more videos and maybe interview other people also. I believe someday it may be illegal to own a Bible as in some countries and I want to have God’s Word hidden in my heart, not only for myself but to share with others. It’s comforting to know and recite God’s Word. I signed up for your email. Thank you again.

Thank you for the kind words, Cindy! I’m glad this interview was as encouraging for you as it was for me. I can’t speak for Susan here, but I’ll tell you that review is sometimes just as time intensive for me as adding new verses. Last summer , our ladies group did a book club. One of the books we read (can't remember the title), was about a young missionary who went to Papua New Guinea in 1940. While there, Japan invaded, and she ended up in a POW camp. At one point , they threw her into prison and took away her bible. She was in that cell all by herself for quite a while, but whenever she became discouraged, the Holy Spirit would bring back to her memory passages of scripture that she had memorized at bible college. They sustained her throughout her ordeal. That was the most impactful part of that book. I too memorized a lot of individual verses as a child, but now I am trying to memorize whole chapters. Working on Psalm 91 right now. Susan is definitely an inspiration. Thank you for your channel.

I want to hide God's word in my heart that I might not sin against Him. Also more and more these days it seems that the prospect of going to prison for your faith has increased and will continue to do so. I keep thinking of the pastor in turkey stuck in jail for years and how if that were me and if I was not allowed to have a Bible I would want to have it in my memory for comfort, encouragement, and to keep from going crazy. I used to memorize Scripture in Sunday School or VBS as a kid and teen. Later I memorized together verses, and once I started sharing the gospel in my mid 20s I started memorizing helpful verses. I had no idea people memorized the Bible. I'm not sure how memorizing a lot of some parts of the Bible is useful but many are doing it. It took 35 yrs to memorize the NT? That's a very long time. The OT would take much longer. Also she said if you don't keep reviewing what you memorize you forget it. I was thinking thru how the best way to decide what to memorize is 🤔 and for me I've concluded its anything related to the Gospel, for use in witnessing, and verses that focus on holy living, encourage, point to Heaven and Promises. That might be more than I can memorize, but I can certainly try. I'm getting a Bible so I can highlight those verses and see what's doable. One of the reasons I won't be able to memorize the entire NT is I have an incurable cancer and unless there's a cure, my life expectancy seems to be 1 year to 15 years but only God knows. I pray for a cure cuz I would love to live longer here to reach the lost, to spend time with those I know, and to enjoy creation and of course joys such as delicious food. If you feel prayerful. Hello Susan. How easy is it to start scripture memorising when you are in your midfifties. How do you 'flush' your mind to get rid of trash and clutter and get it tuned to the word?
@BibleMemoryGoal3 жыл бұрын
@@mathapelokgaswanyane1531 I know Susan won't be able to answer right now, so I'll chime in and say that age makes no difference. Seriously! As long as you have a desire, patience and a bit of prayer, you can make Scripture memory a valuable part of your life.

@thekingdomofelohim2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. I'm going to do this but have a different set of techniques. I'm memorizing through the 613 mitzvot right now. I'm at 222 with number, chapter and verse. I should be done with this list in about 10-15 days. I'm using a very advanced visual memorization tactic to do it though, but you learn it in a different way. After that I'll go through the book of Genesis, but I want to get the Torah down letter by letter in Hebrew.
@BibleMemoryGoal2 жыл бұрын
I’m curious what kind of advanced visual memory tactic you’re using?
@thekingdomofelohim2 жыл бұрын
@@BibleMemoryGoal probably a modified form of some of the things that you see memory experts talking about on your channel, more akin to Ron White. I am through about 300 of them now but taking my time. If I focused on it I could probably memorize about 50 scriptures a day like this, but the spaced recall to solidify things is what slows it down and normal "human avoidance" as it is a lot of work with the mind. In other words, it is very easy to put a lot of this in your mind quickly using tricks, but keeping it there is a totally different thing. You have probably figured that out on your own.

Josh, can I check that, is it helpful for one who wants to memory scripture to stick to using one single bible (in print), instead of many bibles (in print) or bible App, because the location of a verse on a page often can help us to memorize it? On this note, does text-only bible perform better than a reference bible?
@BibleMemoryGoal3 жыл бұрын
It *can* be helpful, but many people are able to memorize using different Bibles, both physical and digital. I think Susan has a good point, though, that by copying the pages from the Bible she uses, she is able to reinforce the memory of the verses/chapters with their placement within her Bible.

She asked about Acts "where is that church now", tell her Acts shows how people became Christians and then the Lord added them to His church. She would have noticed the pattern. And compare with what the practice is today, and there are those who practice exactly as it was in the 1st century, if only she looks around, I believe she'll find brethren who are faithful to the word.

2.5 Million on the earth who memorized whole Al-QURAN. and their number is constantly rising. How many people memorize whole bible (old testament and new testament)? Can you please advise me anyone?
@BibleMemoryGoal2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that, and although we could discuss the length of the Quran compared to the Bible (it’s *much* shorter) or the fact that many people are memorizing the Quran in a language they don’t understand, I think it’s more important to say this: Memorization does not equate to spiritual transformation. If you’re using memorization to prove that you or any other group of people are “more spiritual”, you need to re-assess your beliefs.
@jamese59362 жыл бұрын
My friend, you are aware that the Bible is a MASSIVE book right? I would encourage you to just take a quick read yourself. A lot of Muslims make the mistake of thinking the Bible is the same as the Quran. The 2 are very different. If anything, it would be better to say the Bible is similar to the Quran PLUS the books of Hadiths. And as for how many people memorize the Bible, in Christianity we do not put a lot of emphasis on that. In Christianity what matters the most is that people understand what they've read and impliment it in their lives and if someone has the capacity to memorize the entire Bible (which I think is impossible) then they can do so, but it will be worthless if they do not understand what they've read.
@LUKEc16v31 Жыл бұрын
I assume you know that the entire Al-Quran has 77,449 words while the entire Bible has 783,137 words? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Should more Christians memorize more of the Bible? Certainly! But with all due respect to you and your faith, for Christians, our salvation is based in Jesus Christ, not upon how much of the Bible we can memorize.
