I believe this is a great point. Yes, I'm glad to live in America -- but we often confuse 'The American Way' with God's way, even when it often isn't. He doesn't love us more than other nations. Jesus said, 'To whom much is given, much is required'. And we certainly have been given a ton! I don't think we're being the stewards we are called to be.
@KellyBezz6 жыл бұрын
As Matthew Bateman so eloquently stated the USA was begun on principles the founding fathers got from the Scriptures. They wanted our country to honor our Creator as we are made in the image of God to rule on His behalf. Like Matthew said, we sure aren’t doing a very good job with what we have been given though. We can do much better. The freedoms we are afforded are indeed a blessing and we need to not take them for granted at all.

Even more so, God does not just hold individuals accountable for their sin, but also nations, and a nation that doesn't repent of its sin will always be tormented by it.

You forgot Yehovah, Jesus Father. I'll console my God, his people ignore him. Bible doesn't teach: Praying to Jesus Bible doesn't teach: Worship Jesus Bible doesn't teach: Praise Jesus Bible doesn't teach: Jesus is God Bible Teaches Praying to Yehovah Bible Teaches worshipping only Yehovah Bible Teaches Praise only Yehovah Bible Teaches Yehovah is Jesus Father "This is my son, the beloved, whom I am well pleased" - Yehovah "All Praise goes to the Father of our Lord Jesus" - Saint Paul "I didn't come to glorify myself, but he that hath sent me" - Jesus "NO MAN CAN SEE MY FACE AND YET LIVE" - Yehovah "NO MAN HAS EVER SEEN GOD AT ANYTIME" - Saint John Deny Yehovah, Jesus Father, if you like. Worship Jesus, disregard the first commandment, if you like. Just because a couple people in the bible worshipped Jesus, doesn't mean it was an order, condoned nor requested. In fact, the LAW says THOU SHALL NOT HAVE ANY OTHEr GODS BEFORE ME... And That's Jesus Father Talking. Jesus reiterated the import of listening to his Dad. "Blessed is he that does the will of my Father" Jesus Said. Praise Yehovah, he Resurrected Jesus, and is Who Jesus cried and pleaded to facing death - Jesus sought out Yehovah, why don't you? Heb 5:7 God Raised him up on the Third Day, according to your gospel, it doesn't say Jesus raised himself. Further, Jesus was given all power and authority after he died because he was worthy and Yehovah GAVE HIM THAT POWER AND AUTHORITY Yehovah always had it - he is GOD. Not Jesus. Jesus is the SON of GOD by Yehovah's own lips!

In Genesis It Says the Man And Woman Become One flesh in Marriage. It's Symbolic. Two being One doesn't mean same person. No Precedent - just bad interpretation that conflicts with the REST of the Bible. You Ignore a TON of Scriptures as Useless to Push Catholic Teachings that have been passed to Mainstream Christianity - Narrow Road Remember? Look at all the Scriptue YOU IGNORE that conflicts with your World View in your own bible you Cherry pick. I'm wasting Time citing Scripture -You Ignore God's Own Mouth. "But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live." - Jehovah said To Moses "No Man hath ever seen God at anytime" - Saint John 1:18 "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth." - Psalms 83:18 - KJV Who Raised Jesus From the Dead? Who Gets all the PRAISE? Jehovah. "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation," - Saint Peter 1:3 "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort." 2 Cor 1:3 - Saint Paul Who Did Jesus Cry To? Plead To to? Beg that Cup be passed from before him? Who gave Jesus all power and Authority over HEaven and Earth? His Father gave it to him. WAKE UP BRO - Right House - wrong God. You worship the #2 LAMB if you think Jesus is God and that's against the first Commandment. WHO SAVED JESUS FROM DEATH? The Only one who COULD Save him from being Dead. Another - for raising yourself, you aren't dead, are ya? Bible Defines death: In that day, he returns to his earth, his breath returns to God, and indeed his thoughts do persish" - Pslams Heb 5:7 - During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Jehovah God is Jesus Father, Jehovah God Raised Jesus From the Dead. Jehovah God Created him before all other creations - then Jehovah Made Everything thru Jesus for Jesus. Col 1:15 - "Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him" Try to work within the Scriptures - One Scripture must coexist with the others. They all fit unless you toss in Catholic DOGMA like Trinity and then the bible doesn't work anymore - TRUTH Sets you Free. Research my cited Scriptures. I have more - but it's a waste of my time if you ignore a ton of scriptures to hang onto an interpretation that conflicts with scripture... Check My work. Jehovah is Jesus Father, Jesus is God's Son... Father son is everywhere in the bible - it takes a Catholic or a Born again or Protestant to insist Father and Son mean nothing - they are one GOD. It's takes a Catholic or Protestant or Evangelical to read scripture and say "nope" when its convenient. "No man can see my face and Live" - Jehovah God - You deny. "No man has seen God at any time" - You Know Better than a 100% Ordained SAINT John? "All praise goes to God, Father of our Lord Jesu" - Saint Paul and Saint Peter "Blessed is he that does the will of my Father" - Jesus own lips, yet you deny he has a father? Hebrew 5:7 - During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. So, Jesus prays to himself you think? After Readin Hebrews 5:7 - If you still don't See Jehovah is the One who saved Jesus From Death I Can't Help ya - to blinded. I did my homework - You need more scriptures to back you up, they shouldn't conflict with one another. The Way you Read John 1:1 and John 1:18 Literally - they conflict. When it's symbolic, Jesus and his Father are one in Agreement and purpose, a team, it works fine. Insisting Jesus is GOD is like Insisting the Quoran Is Inspired after it says "the Sun sets in a hot lake of Mud if you go far enough west." Sometimes - you need to Keep Researching Bro like the Berean Jews. Acts 17:11 - Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. You have to Deny Jehovah's Lips, Jesus Lips, Saint John, Saint Paul and Saint Peter to Insist Jesus is GOD. I Just Proved it to you.

The only thing better than your animations+sound FX is the commentary!! Living in the tension between loyalty and subversion. We all do live in Babylon indeed!

You can straight up apply all of this to people too. When faced with opposing people, two options are usually obviously presented: Either, return the aggression (eye for an eye) or forgive and forget (turning the other cheek). There are problems with both, eye for an eye and the world goes blind, but turning the other cheek just gets you slapped. So there is another way. Forgive, but do not forget. Show kindness and seek their well being, but show subversion in face of further animosity. Essentially be a brick wall. Show that no matter what they do, you will continue to be kind, but don't let yourself be taken advantage of. A good quote from modern media is "no matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it". Another point about the Way of the Exile is that when encountering a new culture in exile, no matter how horrible the rulers are, remember that not everyone are like that. There were genuine, good people in Babylon. Babylon under the achaemenid ruler Cyrus the Great was even credited with having the best care for their poor, their sick and their homeless this side of modern western countries. Babylon, although represented as an oppressive force of evil, was absolutely not like that. Even nazi germany was full of good people who were at the wrong place at the wrong time. The only thing required for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing.

Moral of the story: 1》 Hold eternal allegiance to what is most good & true. Be at one with God. "The Greatest Commandment." 2》 Have wisdom (& eyes of forgiveness) to see what you love beyond what you hate. "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." "Love your neighbor as yourself." 3》 Give your life to stand for what is righteous. "Take up your cross and follow me." - Jesus Christ.

I had a troubled parent who was a non-believer & even when I was an adult wanted me to "bow to her". God and my commitment to God was not on her radar screen & I believe she was jealous & made furious by it. Recently I have been pondering that my struggle in this regard has been truly releasing an idolatry--although an unpleasant idolatry. Thanks for this-same theme. Sorry if name icon comes up 2x. Some sort of computer glitch we don't know how to fix.

You summarized a very important point in the Bible about how we should be in a society. And I think MLK is a great recent example of that.(In case we find old/new testament stories hard to relate to) He did not create revolts nor did he ignored racial inequality. He peacefully marched, got beaten as well, achieving way more than violence ever did. And what did fellow marchers bring with them? Right American flags, because they still wanted the well being for their country. Do you guys see the similarities? I do! Anyway Selma is a great movie about MLK and his marches. Praise Jesus :) and great video Bible Project!
@Gaminglord1236 жыл бұрын
MLK did great things for American society, and his legacy lives on, but he shouldn't be held as a good example of Christianity. Martin Luther King held heretical views and was an adulterer. He was not orthodox in any proper sense. Christians should admire the good work he did, but not uphold the man himself as a paragon of Christian living.

Daniel you are correct and I wish more people actually took the time to learn about these people we hold in such high esteem within Christendom( as an umbrella term)

@@Gaminglord123 we are all sinners and that doesnt make us all bad people. He still fought for human rights peacefully and for God and you can't really say ANYONE is a "good example of Christianity" except for Jesus if you believe that people who have sinned can't be examples.
@Gaminglord1236 жыл бұрын
@@zeklez1164 We are all sinners, but that isn't an excuse. Frankly, it is a cop-out, and one I only tend to hear from American and European Christians, as though the fact that we're all in need of a saviour negates our duty to speak and live righteously. There is no evidence that MLK ever repented of his sins. In fact, there is evidence to the contrary. Moreover, regardless of his personal morality, he was a heretic. He denied basic tennents of the Christian faith like the virgin birth. If you deny such fundamental truths, you are not Christian, you are a heretic. Like I said, MLK did many good things, but he was not and should not be considered a good example of Christianity because by the standards of the faith as passed down for 2000 years, he wasn't a Christian. You may be upset by this, but it's the truth.

Beautiful video. Amazing truth. High calling. I am surprised the theme was not traced all the way, through Babylon in Revelation, to the ultimate victory of the exiled community in the new heavens and new earth. This would have completed the theme's narrative arc, in my opinion.

A wonderful presentation of a healthy tension of loyalty and subversion. One thing to point out was that the "exile" was a result of their disobedience and therefore if we as a culture continue with our own disobedience too, then we can expect our own version of the "exile".
