Can confirm, going to Costco is always a fun and different experience for the entire family every time. They switch around products and put them all over the place randomly as a way to get people to go to every aisle to find what they want, but also entice them to other things they may have not considered. It's a smart marketing strategy.

There were no Costco stores in my area until I was well into adulthood. We did, however, have Sam's Club (which is similar, but arguably of a lower quality when it comes to deli/hot food). I used to go to Sam's a fair amount with my parents and older sister.
