read comments, and as a 35 year old man been through drastic changes through 2000-2021 , from 99 trance to early 2000s funky house, 2006-08 electro and tech house, the the minimal of ritchie hawtin luciano and villiabos to the big room sounds of toolroom and the sweedes, then DUBSTEP that threw away the rulebook, to the deep house revival from the likes of hot since 82 and eats everything to EDM tommorowland and then come houses filthy brother back with vengence in techno, worship eric prdyz his live shows....but listening takes me back to sasha and digweed essential mixes listening as a 14 year old knowing this is proper electronic progressive house music, pure CLASS

Man, this is the stuff. I'm at 1 hour in. I hope it doesn't go to pot. I'm so not a Bicep fan particularly (that word is essential - particularly). While I eulogise the masterpiece "Glue", as I did so many tracks of the original house era in the UK, 87-92/93, otherwise Bicep have always been for me (in what they they produce themselves) electro and pre-house artists. I have a limited tolerance for electro music itself, which I and everyone I knew from the 80s to early 90s agreed was literally light years, humanly inferior to what we called house, all kinds of house. As in - house is a feeling. House is soul and spirit. (It really is.) This mix is just well there - in house, in the feeling, in the soul and in the spirit. I saw Bicep DJ once in Belfast, supporting the lamentably disappeared Simian Mobile Disco, and I realised then that the central House Music promise from their Feel My Bicep old school house blog could well still be fulfilled within their own music. I know the new generation loves the 70s-80s like electro (to me unevolved and in a way actually pre-human where later the most human of all rhythmic, concrete soulful, spiritual music gloriously came along). I know that might be the audience Bicep thinks it has. Though this '17 mix is heavy proof to me that they really are steeped in the genuine legacy of house music and all it means. Thank you for this Essential Mix.
