I always knew this song had interesting harmony going on and I just realized that this song uses really cool music theory... It uses modal interchange from B minor and B major scale which is fairly intermediate use of music theory but the arrangement of chords is just really professional... So the verse has Gmaj7 chord (from B minor scale) and Bmaj chord (from B major scale) which already gives this major minor interchange aesthetic vibe... Then the chorus has A major G major and F major chord which has Arabic or Spanish harmonic minor color in it... At last there's also chord progression of G A and B major in which G and A major are chords from B minor scale and B major chord is from B major scale..... Even though G and A major chord is fairly happy sounding chord the B major chord which comes after them makes G and A sound very gloomy and trippy That with the lyrics in this song really makes the song great... It gives calm but really dark emotion which really makes us question about religion and makes humans feel guilty about bad deeds people do in the name of religion
