Join me for a short bike ride to test my hand built bicycle camper. It was very wet day and cold.

Hi Pauline, Great to see you got the hitch installed onto your bike. Scottish weather has been foul for the past few weeks. Stormy 50 mph winds again today! Doug.

Two years ago I added a lidded corflute box to a trailer base, fitted 4 corflute boxes in the big box, towed it with a recumbent trike and went camping with a tent. I found the system worked well - the boxes kept all the gear in the places they should be - easy to find - easy to pack, everything dry, Then, last winter I converted it all to a Robert Beriault bicycle camper! Looking at your set-up I think it looks like it would be good to use as a trailer to carry your kit including tent - plus it would provide a place to sit and contemplate the view while you cook tea or keep out of the rain. Best wishes from Tasmania with your direction from here.

hate to say this after all the time and effort you put in, But if your not going to sleep in it, then i'm thinking pull it off and put some kind of waterproof box on the trailer and you could carry a lavvu or a fishing bivi tent when you want a shelter.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking……

Hi, looks good the trailer working. If it's just surface rust a bit wd40 or bike oil will take it off and keep it moving. I'd just sneak it back in if it was me 😂. That looks a good attachment you got for the trailer to attach to. I've an ear infection again, a really bad one, so not bee on the bike and probably won't be until next week, I'll have forgotten how to go my bike! Was really bad yesterday so more drops from the doctors as had next to no sleep since Sunday 😮

Kudos to you Urban grrl - Pretty ambitious project i.m.o. but I would say it was 75%. I was thinking of trying something similar but just to transport camping gear/food etc. but I haven't even got to the drawing board stage but I do have ideas for materials. I was thinking of a single wheel version made from the front wheel and forks of an old bike. Either way good for you and well done !

think it would be easyer buying a nice waterproof tent? and covert trailer into a sided trailer and you could fit loads of other stuff in it..😮

I might buy a better tarp for this…. Thanks for watching.

I love your trailer and the writing and pictures on the side. One thing about getting out there and doing it camping-wise is that we're learning (often the hard way) all of the time. You'll get there with the design. Well done on what you've achieved so far. 😊
