I just finished watching your video and I’m speechless. This may be the best, most concise yet informative video in all of KZbin. I’m going to watch again (probably several times), with a note pad in hand to be sure I get everything down. Thank you very much!

I brought the 13L messenger bag today based on seeing your set up, and following your channel. As I only do days, not overnight (I'm 70+) it seemed plenty big enough with a modest pack on the back. Keep up the excellent content please.

I have just found your videos. I think yours are the most informative videos that I have found on how to pack for light weight bicycle touring. I especially appreciate the fact that you are both "older" adults. I truly like how you have laid out your packing scheme and your philosophy for bike packing. Thank you so much for sharing.

Amazing presentation! Thank you so very much for this. Without considering any specialization, this clothing combination is suitable for almost every discipline. As Moises Vargas said, I also almost never comment on a u-tube video, however your video(s) are truly amazing.

I've been watching a few videos so far, and I really like the great quality of them: information, practical tips, etc, combined with awesome footage and relaxed off screen comments is a killer combination. Thank you so much for the fantastic channel! I'm a recent Brompton owner, and your video's make me look forward to some adventures to come ;-)

LOL@"We just ride in the rain and our pants get wet" - my take too; it may be slightly uncomfortable whilst wet, but soon dries off. I've always found so-called wet-weather trousers don't breathe enough, so you get wet from the inside out. [By the way, my Brompton is also that fabulous bright orange - chosen as a good "be seen" colour, and now matched by a Night Orange Smart car]

Yes, we hate that clammy feeling in rain pants. Better to just wear quick-dry clothing.

I am an all weather walking (new to brompton), I live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. We have lots of rain. I wear shorts year round. For footwear, I opted for open shoes, I use teva Omnisport, with Darn Tough Socks (wool). I found this combination is versatile, fast drying, and warm year round, even when wet. I get 1000 miles plus out of a pair of shoes, and never cold or hot feet. so far this has been a successful setup with my Brompton. I layer, t-shirts, fleece and Gortex Rain, so far I have not tried this on my Brompton, but for walking, I can spend long hours happy in the rain, no matter the temperature.

What works for hiking usually works for the type of touring we do as well. As you mentioned, combination of versatility, fast drying and warm (would add light weight). Enjoy your new Brompton and hope our paths will cross in the future.

Hi! Thank you for the helpful videos! I was wondering where Gilbert gets his cycling pants and shorts, and what brands he would recommend.
@2Bikes4Adventure
@2Bikes4Adventure Жыл бұрын
@QuestingQueer, the 3/4 pants come from MEC, a Canadian outdoors retailer. Unfortunately, that specific model has been discontinued www.mec.ca/en/product/5035-508/prankster-knickers REI in the USA seems to offer something similar, but we haven’t tried them www.rei.com/product/177432/rei-co-op-link-cycling-knickers-mens As for the cycling shorts, they are from L.L. Bean in the USA. They came with a removable padded liner. Unfortunately, they are discontinued as well.

Hi how do you do your laundry and drying? Can share with us. Thank u.
@2Bikes4Adventure
@2Bikes4Adventure Ай бұрын
Indeed, we never did the follow-up laundry video (@ChrisbyBike having covered the subject somewhat on her channel ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2Wsmp6Aprija8U )). We do not use a dry bag like Chris does however, preferring to use the sink and an universal stopper instead (like this one: amzn.to/3zaMxjC ) The main trick after washing and removing the excess water is to roll the laundry in a dry towel and squeeze as much as you can. We use a small clothesline as well (like this one: amzn.to/4ggE2UT ) Our laundry was always dry by the following morning.

Could you give more specifics about Gilbert's pants? All you said was not-cotton.
@2Bikes4Adventure
@2Bikes4Adventure Жыл бұрын
@Athenasraven, Usually, Gilbert cycles in pants specifically designed for this purpose. For example, his 3/4 pants are made of 95% nylon 5% spandex. Here’s the link to the model used (no longer sold) www.mec.ca/en/product/5035-508/prankster-knickers The longer pants (mainly used when NOT cycling) are general purpose technical nylon trousers: 95% nylon, 5% elastane. Gilbert uses Prana Zion www.mec.ca/en/product/6017-277/stretch-zion-pants-ii Both pants are fast drying and stretchy.

Hi, May I know the brand of the rain coat your are using? Are they good enough for heavy rain?
@2Bikes4Adventure
@2Bikes4Adventure 4 жыл бұрын
We do not use cycling specific rain jacket, just regular ones. Gilbert’s rain jacket is an Outdoor Research Helium II. Ultralight weight, smaller packed size but less durable.Pam’s rain jacket is a NorthFace Fuseform DotMatrix. Heavier, but with more pockets, better breathability (including pit-zip) and more durable. So, overall more versatile. Both are capable of handling heavy rain (but your pants will get wet :-)

Do you send your cruise wear clothes ahead ?
@2Bikes4Adventure
@2Bikes4Adventure 4 жыл бұрын
In fact, we are minimalist packers on a cruise also. Before we left home to cycle from Paris to London then board the Queen Mary, we mailed a box (about 15 litre size) to our hotel in Southampton. We repacked the contents (a dressy jacket, a pair of shoes each, and some other clothes) into a bag, strapped it to the back rack and cycled the last 2 km to the boat. We have done something similar on other trips to avoid carrying extra weight on our cycle journey. Friends we make on board are amazed by how little we pack while following the dress code and looking much more snazzy than we do while cycling. When we disembarked the Queen Mary in New York and continued cycling to Montreal, we managed to squeeze everything on our Bromptons. Hmmm, perhaps this could be the topic for another video.
