I would rather pay $50 or $100 to get a 'near real' space flight simulator experience which will not only show me the views of earth from the stratosphere but also views of low orbit fly-by, touchdown on moon, mars and other space wonders. You can make a real size replica of a non flying space capsule - starliner, both interior and exterior, keep it on a mount inside a big elliptical shaped room whose walls and floor are created with ultra high definition infinity view screens mimicking "out of window" 3 dimensional realistic views of space e.g. space horizon, close up of earth, moon, mars, comets etc in the same way space travelers view it from inside the spacecraft window. With mechanical movements of the craft, pre-recorded scenes and sounds you can recreate the same experience one gets in space i.e. the launch - in flight and touchdown (barring zero gravity) in the same way as actual space flight. #spaceForEveryone

Nice, but I wish it was more like the Inspiration4 flight with SpaceX, where for every X dollars you donated earned you an entry into the lottery for 1 of the seats. That way, every bidder, big or small, had at least some chance to win the seat. Plus that way, more money goes to charity, instead of just the winning bid.

If every US citizen donated 10 pennys a month, New Shepard could fly 10 times daily (requires 12 new boosters every month), each flight with 6 people aboard! Chances that you get selected (ignoring the fact that many many people wouldn't fly due to age or no interest) within 50 years: >0,055% => >1/2000

I think Blue Origin is thinking about Profits, he to build a sustainable rocket company. SpaceX has a lot more investors than Blue Origin which is self funded, so SpaceX can afford to crash a few rockets, but Blue Origin can't hence why they try to perfect the full spacecraft even before doing the crazy stuff like going into orbit, or doing a belly flop. I think involving the public more, could help them a lot, like taking the public along for the journey. But they did a good job. Now they just need to copy SpaceX, because if they are in direct competition with SpaceX, a lot more people will be enthusiastic about them. Maybe they can try building a New Glenn, that is made of the same material as starship, and just launch and land it , to show that their proof of concept works. Then they could immediately attach another part to New Glenn, making it taller and then launching and landing it.

So far all there appears to be of it are the engines, a mock-up of the rocket, and half a faring. Who knows if the thing will ever fly? There are no shortage of rocket systems that will be flying in the couple of years so there will be no shortage of excitement.

If you actually watched the factory tour videos you'll see the following: - The pathfinder mockup - The aft engine and forward interstage module sections under construction. - The landing gear. - Propellant tank domes, barrel sections and more. Frustratingly, you can catch a couple glimpses of nearly complete tanks! - We have heard from Blue Origin that the fairing halves are complete and a set of qualification fairings along with payload adapters are going to NASA's Plumb Brook Station for separation testing in the big vacuum chamber there. - BE-3U along with BE-4 are in production down in Huntsville.

I love the innovation and the level of competition it brings to the exploration of space by private companies, making space more accessible to people who aren't scientists. I think it's a great first step to reach an altitude that allows for a passenger to see the curvature of the earth, experience weightlessness, reach apogee and then drift back to Earth. I can't wait for Earth orbit trips, though, (I think the first will be in September). Imagine having a business meeting in low earth orbit. . . or a date. . . or an Earth orbit trip the same way people go on road trips with friends. The duration of the trip, among other things, would then determine the price of the ticket based on training required, ground control requirements, and supplies needed for trip. Different packages could be set. . . from a few hours in orbit. . . to days, and as the technology gets better, months. . . and eventually structures that allow for prolonged stay.
