About time he’s done something smart. They should kept all the steel companies in America. Our government needs to help our steel companies improve and not give our money to other countries.

My dad worked at that plant for 42 years, and my grandfather worked there for 52 years. I have some mixed feelings about this issue; but being able to maintain control of USSteel is definitely a national security issue.

Wow, they served for quite some time there, did the job have good benefits too it? Were they not able to retire till after all that time, or they just got great benefits to stay there?

Yeah, I'm with Biden on this one. The membership isn't always right, they're looking at it from a perspective of short term gains, but at what cost? Selling out a major producer in one of our biggest industries to another country? I'm 100% against it. What I would like to see is whichever administration look at the deal Nippon made with US Steel and address most of the concerns within it. You have a dilapidated or outdated plant, invest in it. Put steeper tariffs on imported steel to promote investment in steel produced in the US, which in term would help with job security. Keep these foreign companies out of American businesses. Also, a lot of union workers are selfish as hell. They will sell out whoever and whatever for their own personal gain. "We get a $15,000 signing bonus!" and don't even read the contract or think about what effects it might have long term.

I have been working here at the ET plant a us steel mill for 15 years. They weren't even trying to sell the company at first from what what management said in all their kiss ass meetings trying to convince everyone its good. All that started when Cleveland Cliffs became interested and was pretty much rejected. Then outta blue Nippon was offering to buy the company. But the CEO started telling everyone if they don't sell he will probably shut us down. That's were the possibility of layoffs come in. That the understanding most of us have that work here.

Chess not checkers, I do understand the US steel workers concern over loosing their jobs, layoff or pay cuts but what will become of US steel if it was sold to Japan. The steel workers keep their jobs but what about the children our future. Will there be a US Steel for our children? I understand the concern of maintaining a job to sustain in life but our lives are very short and we are here to make way and plant a prosperous seed with a good family name for our children to carry on. Think of the Future of US steel not only the Purpose it can serve today.

Just like the ag-industry getting grants to automate and buy new machinery , we should be doing the same for US steel. It's national security issue, just as oil and gas is. The production of our weapons, aircraft, infrastructure and etc. is massive and needs to stay in the country. On September 8, 1950, the US Congress enacted the Defense Production Act. Title II permitted the President to requisition any facilities, property, equipment, supplies, and component parts of raw materials that were needed for the national defense. Title IV gave the President the authority to impose wage and price controls in progressive steps (ranging from voluntary controls to controls in essential industries to overall controls). Trump as a business man first understands this and can negotiate best deal and keep the plants open and better wages and retrofit the facilities

😂im going to have to disagree with you on this. Sorry i just woke up👈Shout out XG🥰Juria, anyways. You're wrong im an expert on this i been to these facilities. When i returned back to the shop i told my plant manager never send me there again. Thats the laziest, weakest soyboy entitled, weak sauce, low T mill i have ever been sent to. They need a personnel restructuring more than a mechanical. They use 10 guys to move 1 crane load. Koppel steel used 2 as did every other mill in the steel valley 😡shit now im late I'll edit this when i get to work. 😏rather than just rant that outsiders don't know about this valley and history and the geographic significance to not only American instrest but to that of our global counter parts in that region. What I will say is this there are only 2 good names in steel quality. Japanese steel and Damascus steel 👈facts all others pale in comparison India steel sucks Chinese steel is garbage and as much as love to school the viewers I'm almost late 😳 to go play with some steel and aluminum
